|
| | | | (...) Huh. I'd heard that Leia would be sporting a brand-new hairpiece, but that looks like she's just got mommy's hair (from Anakin's Podracer & Mos Espa Podrace). It certainly fits within the LD tradition of always using existing pieces for new LD (...) (21 years ago, 9-Aug-03, to lugnet.starwars)

|
| | | | | (...) My understanding is that this is not so much a tradition, as it is a necessity. LD does not have the budget or the authority to commission new molds. <snip> (...) Not nearly as annoying as not releasing it at all, which is what probably (...) (21 years ago, 10-Aug-03, to lugnet.starwars)

|
| | | | | (...) Yeah, well, even with rapid-prototyping (which we know they're using), new mold designs aren't cheap. S@H exclusives have a much more limited consumer base than retail releases, and anything that sells well enough through S@H to justify making (...) (21 years ago, 11-Aug-03, to lugnet.starwars)

| | | | | i don't think you guys are differentiating the releases from both LEGO Direct and TLC properly. LEGO direct items are S@H and LEGO Retail exclusive items, and i guess it goes into a trial period before retailers opt to carry them, like the RBR, (...) | | | | (...) Yes! Lando!! Looking just swell in his realistic skin tone. I was hoping the basketball sets would open the door for that. I know the yellow-headed argument of "any-race" for "any Lego person" is true enough in most cases, but dangit, Billy (...) (21 years ago, 9-Aug-03, to lugnet.starwars)

| | | | | | (...) Billy Dee may not have been yellow, but neither were Harrison, Carrie, Mark, Sir Alec, Natalie, Liam, Ewan....I'm sure they would've "looked swell" in realistic skin tones as well. And since the basketball "opened the door" as you say, are the (...) (21 years ago, 9-Aug-03, to lugnet.starwars)

| | | | | | (...) I'm at BrickFest and have seen this set in person. It is 100% the opposite of juniorized - everything is made of smaller parts - after all, the set has hundreds of pieces! Roy (21 years ago, 10-Aug-03, to lugnet.starwars)

| | | | | (...) Soo... I guess it is now the turn for us "white skin folk" to start complaining and b*tching about there not being any 'realistic' white humans in any sets? Oh and we aint white, we are just humans, me think -the evil twin of /\/\arkassius But (...) (21 years ago, 10-Aug-03, to lugnet.starwars)

|
| | | | (...) I hope Mr. Billy D. Williams had a say on what he'd look like in Lego. It would be cool if he made the final decision. Dear Lego, how DID you decide on the minifig color issue? We've debated it for a long time here on Lugnet & I'd be (...) (21 years ago, 10-Aug-03, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.dear-lego)

| | | | | | Re: 10123 Cloud City Mike Petrucelli
|
| | | | | (...) I bet the answer lies in the fact that this is a LEGO Direct set and not a normal LEGO release. Because of that they can 'ignore' the whole issue of established policy. That is my guess anyway. Personally I belive that if they were going to (...) (21 years ago, 10-Aug-03, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.dear-lego)

| | | | | (...) I'd say that that's a pretty good guess. Unfortunately, far from solving or eliminating the problem, it makes it worse. In effect, LEGO is saying "we'll only deal with the issue of 'race' when it's forced upon us, and even then we'll only deal (...) (21 years ago, 11-Aug-03, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.dear-lego)

An interesting side note here is that LEGO has made minifigs with the "correct" color for other humanoid characters from Star Wars, such as Bib Fortuna, Gammorean Guards and ofcours Yoda.
