    Jawa Sandcrawler '02 —Joel Kuester
Heyas, Its been a while! I built my last Star Wars MOC over 2 years ago! I was recently asked to submit one of my models for the big convention next month, but since all my stuff has been taken apart for a while, I offered to re-make a model... (...)      WOW! Looking good. I love the droids. Any other interior detail? IIRC isn't there some sorta melting facility onboard? Still a very sharp model :D --Kai "Joel Kuester" <septenemae@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:GuA4rL.Hrt@lugnet.com... (...) (...) (22 years ago, 9-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Jawa Sandcrawler '02 —Joel Kuester
(...) thanks, yes there is a melting facility, in fact its most of the second floor behind the loading room. I do have that section detailed in this model, and the flashing light is there to simulate the laser that breaks apart the various (...) (22 years ago, 9-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

<<snip>> (...) <<snip>> (...) You know, I saw the movie last Sunday for the first time (!) and I have a pretty fresh memory of the Sandcrawler and though it'd make a truly interesting LEGO project. And what did I see at Brickshelf on my daily tour? (...) (22 years ago, 9-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Jawa Sandcrawler '02 —Joel Kuester

Re: Jawa Sandcrawler '02 —Tobbe Arnesson
(...) I'm working on it :) I was born in '78 and played more with LEGO then watched TV when it was on there. I think the magic is lost today or if you're an adult. Still it's really great movies but I don't think it'll become a part of my life in (...) (22 years ago, 10-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Jawa Sandcrawler '02 —Steve Bliss
(...) Another thing that made a big difference (IMO) is that before Star Wars, there was a fairly long drought of 'big' science fiction movies. Sure, there were some movies around, but not many. So I think people were much more receptive to Star (...) (22 years ago, 11-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Jawa Sandcrawler '02 —Dave Schuler
(...) I think this is exactly right, and I would suggest that the other late-70's might not have been possible or successful without many of the techniques established during Star Wars, not to mention the market-credibility of science fiction (...)           Re: Jawa Sandcrawler '02 —David Koudys
(...) I believe that most sci-fi after Star Wars used Lucases own special effects production company, ILM, to do the effects in their movies. Before this, most studios did cheesy effects 'in house' (2001 being a noteable exception, those were pretty (...) (22 years ago, 11-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Jawa Sandcrawler '02 —Eric Kingsley
(...) I doubt this would have been true mostly because ST the Motion Picture was just a little to slow. It was closer to 2001 ASO then it was SW. SW had blasters firing and a much faster script. Plus ST tries to base in self in some sort of "future (...) (22 years ago, 11-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Jawa Sandcrawler '02 —David Eaton
(...) I dunno-- I'm almost tempted to say that Star Trek could've hurt the sci-fi market for SW had it been first. First off, effects. One of the HUGE things SW did was the great effects. Chances are ST would've had the same cheezy effects that (...) (22 years ago, 11-Apr-02, to lugnet.starwars)
