It's perfectly clear.  They were white with red trim.  Like most things
non-empire, they were all dirtied-up in the movie.  Like the X-Wing.  And
kinda like a Sandtrooper.  His armor was white, but in the movie they were
all dirty looking.  And, like like RBR, if Lego makes a Sandtrooper, I hope
they make him white, not grey.

Well to me anyway, when watching the movies, I see the Sandtrooper as white
with sand all over.  The Corrvettes including the RBR simply look grey, not
'dirty' white.  Same with the X-wings.  Makes me wonder if your 'brightness' is
too high on the TV.  I set mine with the 'color bar' test screen so I doubt my
'brightness' is too low.  (Wow if that isn't a set up for puns I don't know
what is)  I guess either way the whole dissucsion is irrelevant as TLC has
already made the ship white. (I must confess that my playing devil's advocate
is somewhat motivated by the fact that I want more grey pieces.)

I thought that was the real reason! ;)

The Lucasfilm archive shots of the model show it as white with airbrushed
"weathering" of some black paint to give it that "used" effect GL was going
for in his universe.  Lego was using reference shots from the Lucasfilm
archives, most of which were probably taken in the archives themselves, not
as stills from the movie.  And since symbolism is the big thing in SW,
Ambassador Leia's ship, on a mission of peace, was painted white for the
same reason she wore a white dress.  She's a good guy.  All of the good
guy's ships are predominantly white.  You are right, the lego version looks
too "bright" as a model, but stick it in a dark room with poor lighting and
the shadows will kick in and it'll look more gray, just like how the model
Lucasfilm shot in the dark void of "space" looked more gray.    And as they
say, all cats are gray in the dark, no?

(...) Its funny but I actually think your suggestion is the only way to make the model look as it is supposed to. Most people will probably not keep it like that though. Yes I wanted grey parts but as a model it would have been more astheticly (...) (23 years ago, 3-Oct-01, to lugnet.starwars)
