I've seen a lot of really good MOC AT-ATs on the web and I really think Lego
could do this if they wanted to.  By my estimation, to be minifig scale, it
would have to be about 40 studs tall.  Now Lego's version wouldn't necessarily
have to be this big but it could be made pretty close and still look good.  Has
anyone else seen those big sculptures in the back of the 2001 S@H catalog?  I
think this just proves that Lego is not afraid of making large expensive sets.
Personally, I'd pay $150 for one if they did make it.  LMKWYT

I would have thought that it might impact on sales of the Dark Side
Developer's Kit (DSDK).  I know they'd be very different models in
appearance, but the big attraction of the DSDK is that it's a Lego AT-AT;
that's why it takes centre image on the box.  I mean, the kit isn't worth it
for the Micro Scout, nor for the parts since there's hardly any real bricks
in it.

Having seen Lego's AT-ST I dread to think what they'd do with the AT-AT.  It
would probably look nothing like the real thing, and be much smaller than
scale, but have a few specialist parts to make it a must-have kit.  And
maybe one or two snow-troopers to boost sales.  What worries me the most is
the dumbing-down of the AT-ST legs to make it balance no matter how you pose
them (So they designed it for kids.  How many kids are buying these?  How
many kids are interested in merchandise for a movie over a quarter of a
century old?).  Imagine this sort of kludge scaled up to AT-AT size.

Of course I'd end up buying one if it was for minifigs, but it wouldn't be a
joyous occasion.

Jason.
