Re: What is with the Technic Stormtrooper?

(...) But the head of the R2-D2 is basically a quarter sphere, isn't it? Even with some printing on it, it is more generally useful than a Stormtrooper helmet would be. (...) I think it is a daring move from TLC to launch a set like this, which (...) (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.technic)

Re: What is with the Technic Stormtrooper?

(...) More than a passing resemblance? It was a conscious effort to capitalise on SW's popularity. Production notes from the development of the series bear this out. Not that this is *necessarily* a bad thing, mind you. I actually kinda like BG (...) (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: What is with the Technic Stormtrooper?

(...) Yeah, I know BG bears more than a passing resemblance to SW, but the Cylons were a cool design anyway, and way better looking than that Technic abomination, IMHO ~Mark "Muffin Head" Sandlin (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.technic)

  Re: Watto's Junkyard

(...) Feh. And you call yourself a Star Wars fan. :D It's Aldar Beedo. Not only does it look like Aldar Beedo, but he's driving Aldar Beedo's pod. What took me looking through some reference material to make out is that the engines and pod behind (...) (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: What is with the Technic Stormtrooper?

(...) Well seeing they are in the middle of filming EP2 I would bet the resources devoted to this sort of things arn't quite what they were. Eric Kingsley (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.technic)

MSRP prices for 7146 and 7166

Hi... My first instinct when I see new sets is to call LS@H to see if they're available. They're listed in their system, but obviously not coming out until 1/1/2001 (although I'm sure Wal-Mart will have 'em all earlier than that). The call did give (...)   Re: Watto's Junkyard

(...) No, but there is not much to say, I can hardly make him out. Jude (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Watto's Junkyard

(...) Well I noticed him but he is really hard to make out. I assume you are talking about the driver of the Pod Racer. I personally don't recognize this racer off the top of my head so I have no idea who it is supposed to be. Eric Kingsley The New (...) (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: What is with the Technic Stormtrooper?

(...) No I am just suggesting a helmet. They did the head for R2-D2 in the Droid Developers kit... I am not suggesting a bunch of new parts, just one or two so the head looks right. As for would it still be LEGO? of course it would because LEGO (...) (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.technic)

  Re: 4th Imperial shuttle figure....

(...) If this year is like every other, we should see some of the sets before Christmas (at least, in the USA). eric (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.year.2001)

  Watto's Junkyard

I'm surprised that no one here seems to have noticed/has anything to say about the second character in the Watto's Junkyard set. Am I the only one who noticed him? eric (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.year.2001)

  Re: 4th Imperial shuttle figure....

Re: What is with the Technic Stormtrooper?

(...) It doesn't matter if anyone out here could or couldn't do better. If LEGO couldn't do any better, they should have scrapped the model at the planning stage. It's an embarrassingly transparent attempt to slap something together, throw a Star (...) (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.technic)

  Re: 4th Imperial shuttle figure....

(...) fig (...) Actually, did they not do that with the Soccer Kit? Although they did add a disclaimer. Jude (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: 4th Imperial shuttle figure....

(...) That would be very cool if you are right. Do you know when they are due? Jason F. (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.year.2001)

  Re: 4th Imperial shuttle figure....

(...) I agree that the hands in the cockpit are yellow, but I seriously doubt the fig is Palpatine. LEGO has *never* done that before (put "multiple" copies of a fig in a catalogue shot- unless they're generic figs that there are multiples of in a (...)   Re: What is with the Technic Stormtrooper?

(...) I don't understand this. You said that you liked the minifig Stormtrooper, which is basically a new mold and some new printed parts (I suppose). And you would also like a the larger Technic Stormtrooper to have new molds to make it look more (...) (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.technic)

  Re: Emperor Palpatine

(...) OK thanks. Shows how much I visit Lugnet now a days. My bad. travis (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Emperor Palpatine

(...) Yes there has been a whole lot of discussion about this in another thread. BEN (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Emperor Palpatine

(...) Yeah, its been discussed already. It appears Lego tried to insert an overlay to change the hands to the correct color, but the overlay slipped down during the scanning process and wasn't caught. Jason F. (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.starwars)
