Ahh but TLG's designers Arn't limited to the "currently available
range of LEGO pieces".  They can design new parts if needed.  I
think the main problem is the head and all that would have required
is some sort of molded mask that looked like a Stormtrooper.

I don't understand this.  You said that you liked the minifig
Stormtrooper, which is basically a new mold and some new printed parts
(I suppose).  And you would also like a the larger Technic
Stormtrooper to have new molds to make it look more like a real
Stormtrooper.  But if every new set has new molds then it would hardly
be LEGO anymore, would it?  You couldn't use the parts from a
Stormtrooper set to build anything except a Stormtrooper if the
majority of the parts where molded to look like various parts of the
Stormtrooper outfit.

No I am just suggesting a helmet.  They did the head for R2-D2 in the Droid
Developers kit...  I am not suggesting a bunch of new parts, just one or two so
the head looks right.

As for would it still be LEGO? of course it would because LEGO designed and
produced the parts.

I'd say that if you want a realistic looking Stormtrooper toy figure,
you should get a non-LEGO action figure.  I wouldn't like an
evolvement of LEGO sets in which the bricks from a set can't be used
to build anything except what's on the box image.

Already got em :-).  I agree with you entirely.  I just think one or two
additional parts for the head would have increased the sales of this set a lot.
Star Wars fans who are not necessarily LEGO fans would buy it if it Looked
like a Stormtrooper.  Heck I'm a Star Wars fan that is a LEGO fan and I
wouldn't buy this set!

But I suppose this is a matter of taste...

Sure.  I know you are a big Technic fan and that makes a differance in your
point of view.  I am a System fan so to get me to buy a Technic set it really
has to catch my eye.  Well obviously this set caught my eye but for all the
wrong reasons (from a Star Wars fans point of view).

In the end LEGO is doing this for the Money and I am just saying they could
have made a lot more of it if they had made this to appeal to Star Wars fans
as well as LEGO fans.
