Hey everyone,

Just found this new picture of the ship from the new TV show.

FYI: The new show will be set at the beginning of the Federation of Planets.
The Enterprise (NX-01) is the first production warp-capable ship in
Starfleet.

Hey-

Just as a note, I think I read somewhere that the Federation doesn't actually
exist at the start of the show.  There's a Vulcan on the crew, sent along as
some kind of "advisor" or "observer", and a couple other aliens on the cast
(the doctor?) but part of what happens during the course of the show is some of
the political stuff that leads to the the UFP forming.

I don't know if that's what you might have meant by "at the beginning of the
Federation" but I thought I'd throw in a little more detail.  I'm not a big
Trek fan, but the idea of the ship being one of the first Earth deep-space
ships, and of having the crew encounter a lot of the familiar Trek aliens for
the first time, and the non-existance of the UFP is one of the more interesting
aspects of the show, IMHO.

(...) Well, yeah, that's what I meant. :^) Apparently, when the show begins, Starfleet Exists, but the UFP does not. ~Grand Admiral Muffin Head (23 years ago, 13-Jul-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.off-topic.fun)
