Personally I actually prefer
their "globular cockpit" design motif over anything that BT1 sets have to
offer. Obviously their torsos and colour scheme aren't anywhere near as • cool
as BT1, but I think that their spaceships look fairly competent, like they
"mean business" as much as any bad guys would.

Heck yeah. Though I like BTI a whole lot better, BTII does have some way
cool stuff. The Allied Avenger is one of my favorite sets in terms of • design.

That's actually one of my favourite TLC ship designs too, possibly even my
favourite! That, and the Rebel Hunter.

Personally I really like the
UFO 'figs. I'd prefer to just build my own decent UFO-style ships,

The thing is, though, that the figs would look extremely out of place with
decent ships seeing as that the figs themselves are not decent. They could
almost be robots with all the circuitry and equipment stapled to their • space
suits. They have cool shoulder pads, though. I'll give them that much.

In that case, I'll admit that I don't like their transparent heads ;-)
I like their helmets, though.

And as for the Insectoids, hmm... strange how the poor quality of the sets
has put people off from experimenting with the Insectoid concept.

I don't think so.. I tend not to mess too much with poor quality sets.

Oh, I don't necessarily mean trying to build using the sets themselves, just
using the minfigs and brick colours to create MOCs to fit the spirit of the
sets, but not their poor style of construction.

You know,
giant insects controlled by aliens. I'd rather like to see some MOCs like
that... might even try one myself.

Yeah... It was a cool idea... but it bombed in my eyes due to the
hideousness (is that a word?) of the sets and the uselessness of the • pieces.

Yeah, that's a word... a word I use for the subtheme too. Frankly, though,
when the sets go on deep enough clearance, they can be worth purchasing for
the few useful parts that they do have. The Arachnoid Base, for instance,
contains quite a few good dark grey bricks and large plates that I think was
worth it at 75% off.

Cheers,
Paul

(...) I never said I didn't like them... I just said that I see them as hippies who aren't really evil. The "stupid" part just kind of came out because I think they would be dumb to spilt from BTI. (...) Heck yeah. Though I like BTI a whole lot (...) (24 years ago, 5-Nov-00, to lugnet.space)
