NBA Space Container Madness - Let the flames begin —Mike Kollross
I wanted to find a use for all those NBA floor sections I aquired after the latest round of clearance sales at Wally World. Assuming the 8x8x16 container standard the NBA floor sections are perfect. They are also 1 brick and one plate thick so add (...) (20 years ago, 4-Apr-04, to lugnet.space)

(...) myself. Other than (URL) Paul Hartzog's Mako>,(1) which uses the 8 x 8 pieces, this is the first space repurposing of these that I've seen. PCMIIW (2) Apart from limiting the door options, I think these are a good design. I like the provision (...) (20 years ago, 5-Apr-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

(...) I'm sorry to inform you that you are wrong, and here is the correction. I've seen a different approach for using the mentioned part before, and I think the design is is very interesting for this topic: (URL) Robin Harbron's 'Lego CUBE' (...)       Snippage (...) I remember seeing this when it first came out (very cool, by the way) and when I was playing around with the NBA container idea I started with the idea of using the 8x8x16 plates as sides as well. The problem was that with the sides (...) (20 years ago, 13-Apr-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

These are very cool ! I'm not sure how I missed these. I was fiddling with MLCAD last night and came up with something remarkably simmilar from the outside, at least : (URL) Moolhuysen wrote: <SNIP> (...) (20 years ago, 13-Apr-04, to lugnet.space)

Mike Kollross obviously has another application for the containers in mind, but here is just some theorising what I was thinking about: Gread thing about Robin Harbron's idea is that it doesn't apear to have a 'automatic' top or (...)      (...) Hello Manfred, No apology necessary. I did ask to be corrected, as I had an inkling that I was wrong. So, correction appreciated. That story is hilarious and well worth pointing out again for those of us who missed it. And, it's nice to see (...) (20 years ago, 17-Apr-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Nice job, Mike. I think these are awesome ! If you don't mind, I'm going to ldraw your design and play with it a bit. The 8x8 version of these parts will make great half-size units and it looks like the holes in the center will let them lock (...) (20 years ago, 6-Apr-04, to lugnet.space)

(...) Cheaper than that. The 8x8 version is part number 30492. On BrickLink, these seem to be going for for very little money. For less than $6, you can get nearly 200 of these in green: Parts / Sports Location: USA, Ships: Internationally, Minimum (...) (20 years ago, 13-Apr-04, to lugnet.space)

Re: NBA Space Container Madness - Let the flames begin —Mike Kollross
I built a second type of container using the 8x8 field plate and added two removable ends to meet the 8x8x16 form factor as well as to make the conatiner match the 8x8x16 in appearance. (URL) also added a 4x5 removable panel that mates with the (...) (20 years ago, 10-Apr-04, to lugnet.space)

Mike, Once again, great job. These rock ! I "ldrew" a version of your original 8x16 NBA Container with holes in the sides like my TEU's. (URL) seems perfect for a container standard for all the reasons you mention. Using the 8x8 and the end adapters (...) (20 years ago, 12-Apr-04, to lugnet.space)

Re: NBA Space Container Madness - Let the flames begin —Mike Kollross
The only problem I encountered with the containers is the shortage of connection points when using the NBA\Soccer 8x16 plate as the base for a container. There is no connection for the bottom of 1x4x5 cutout on the side. For the 8x8 version I (...) (20 years ago, 13-Apr-04, to lugnet.space)

Re: NBA Space Container Madness - Let the flames begin —Jason S. Mantor
I hadn't noticed that on the 8x16's but I used 1x8 and 1x6 plates on the 8x8's to make attaching to the 8x8 field piece workable. I don't think a 1-plate high threshhold will annoy the moonbase denizens much : ) I'll try that on the 8x16's too. The (...) (20 years ago, 13-Apr-04, to lugnet.space)
