P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Ryan Wood
First off, I hope all you .spacers out there enjoyed your weekends, and I wish you have a productive week. This has been a busy weekend for me. On Friday afternoon I kicked myself out of my post-PDX funk and set myself a goal: build at least two (...) (20 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Jean-Pascal Rignault
Hi there Ryan, That's a fine ship you have here! First of all the pics you present in your building notes really help understanding your work, a nice plus IMO! I wish we could see more often this kind of post. Good idea you have to take pictures (...) (20 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Ryan Wood
(...) Thanks, JP. I'm glad you enjoyed the construction pics. I've been trying to do that my last few mocs so I can share with people how a model can evolve from start to finish. This is my best-documented model so far. It was indeed a challenge to (...) (20 years ago, 23-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Jean-Pascal Rignault
Thanks for the explainations Ryan! I am always amazed by the creativity shown here. One more SNOT (morve...) technic in my to-try-and-study note book! Cheers, JP. (20 years ago, 23-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Paul Baulch
(...) Ryan, you've obviously put what you've learnt to good use because your use of slopes and SNOT to make curves on this fighter is just excellent. If I had any criticisms it would be that you didn't seem to use any 3x12 wedge slopes! If not, I (...) (20 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Ryan Wood
(...) Paul, thanks. Ho-boy..PDX taught me a load of stuff. And I didn't even see everything there. I definitely think my building style and techniques have improved just by being around the great mocs and .space builders who were at the fest. I was (...)         Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Gil Shaw
(...) Obviously good advice combined with da skillz to make this come together so well. I could see the danger of this being the split tail on the back looking 'tacked on', but with blending both the slopes and wing elements together, you've created (...)          Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Ryan Wood
(...) Titillating indeed. Heh. Your comments about the tail section makes me admire you even more. I worked really hard to find the right balance of shape, detail, size, and color for the tail section, and it actually makes me feel really proud for (...)         Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Gregory Muri
Hey Ryan, very cool P-38 there! The shape is excellent and very accurate for the Cylon Raider. One suggestion would be a change of canopy. Although the one you used is more P-38 like, take a look at this one. Might help to keep the shape of Raider (...) (20 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.space)

Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —David Laswell
(...) might need to conceal the back half of it. Alternately, if you don't mind it being a little small, one of the new Racers (8384 Jungle Crasher) comes with a really cool looking black wire-fram version of the 4x4 triple-slope wedge piece. Either (...) (20 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.space)

Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Ryan Wood
(...) Greg, thanks man. I love your suggestion. If ever I slip one of those cockpits into a Bricklink order, I'll be sure to try it out on this ship. --Ryan W. (20 years ago, 23-Mar-04, to lugnet.space)

Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Douglas R. Clark
(...) Ryan, Very cool ship. I really like the dark blue on light grey color scheme. I think that really sets off your design. The shape of the wings really evokes the cylon raider feel. I also like the look of the embedded starwars engine pieces in (...) (20 years ago, 23-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Ryan Wood
(...) Douglas, thanks a bunch for your comments. It's funny, this ship is. I've never seen an episode of Battlestar Galactica in my life. All I had to go on was the Lego works I could find on Brickshelf. :) The landing gear was one of the last bits (...) (20 years ago, 23-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Keith Goldman
Great job Ryan, you get my vote so far for the coolest entry. The raider-shape is perfect, and you lost nothing with the integration of the engines. if you ditched the tail you probably wouldn't win, but it would look even better. The only flaw is (...)          Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Ryan Wood
(...) Dagger, maybe? :p Did your mom teach you how to type? Coolest entry? As much as I appreciate that comment, I really think Bram or Allister have the raddest ships so far. What is the significance of three pilots? I saw that Mark's Raider had (...) (20 years ago, 23-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —David Laswell
(...) How much did you watch the show? The goofy robot-dog (Muffet) was a "daggett", and yes, Cylon Raiders had a 3-bot crew. (20 years ago, 23-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Ryan Wood
(...) Keith was talking about gangstas, so I thought he was looking for his dagger to cut me a new one. As I mentioned in one of my replies, I've never seen the show. Forgive my ignorance! --Ryan W. (20 years ago, 23-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Ley Ward
(...) Snip (...) Hey Ryan, That is one excellent, solid design. A weekend well spent, for sure. I find the colour scheme refreshing. I think the strong point of the design for me, is the way the forms intersect. You have the large oval of the wings (...) (20 years ago, 23-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Ryan Wood
(...) Ley, thanks man. Like Gil's words, your observations make me proud to be part of a community that pays attention to such design details. I'm really happy this moc is being received so well by all of you guys, I was afraid that fans of BG would (...) (20 years ago, 23-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Mladen Pejic
I gotta agree with what everyone else is saying: this is one beautiful MOC. Excellent use of slopes Ryan; you're definitely going to inspire a lot of people. I also love the way the dark/navy blue looks with the light grey. Awesome! Can't wait to (...) (20 years ago, 23-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: P-38 Entry: C--38 Cylon Lightning —Geordan Hankinson
Hey sweet! The whole thing feels really tight, I like that. The shape is really cool and like Gil said, the twin booms are really nicely incorporated. Nice landing gear too, and the guns are sweet. Cool stuff, -Geordan (...) (20 years ago, 24-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)
