Re: Rule No. 1 (was CT-150 Industrial Transport Shuttle)

(...) I'd definitely like to see that. Keep in mind, though, that I wasn't saying it wouldn't look cool with big areas of studs - I'd want to see an example where it didn't seem like an improvement to build anything on those areas. Cheers, (URL) (...) (22 years ago, 18-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  New sub group lugnet.space.moc

Hi all, I do not know if this has been asked before (I think so). But is it possible to create a group within .space for people to show their MOCs? This way the beautiful creations will not get lost in all other threads with general discussion. Jaco (22 years ago, 18-Jun-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: New MOC: DYAD

Very cool! It's good to see someone finally making it work! And a good use of Znap too. -"Insectiods, meet Znap!" -"Znap, meet Insectoids!" -"I'm leaving you kids now, here's your baby-sitter Technic! Behave now!" And behave they did! (22 years ago, 18-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.technic)

Re: The Flame and The Lance

(...) Thanks Keith, actually I think a lot of the detail effect comes from the stickers/printing, they went well with just a modest amount of greeblies. Stickers and printed parts, if you find just the right application for them, can look really (...) (22 years ago, 18-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Flame and The Lance

(...) Thank you, Richie for organising the meeting, otherwise not many people would have had the chance! (...) Yeah, I agree. Although I mainly just chose white because I had a lot of it :-) Cheers, (URL) Sci-Fi LEGO> (22 years ago, 18-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Flame and The Lance

(...) Yeah, it's a compromise... the Lance has a better hangar bay configuration. (...) I expected to see you there... I think I even mistakenly called someone Allister once or twice. (...) Not for these, sadly - you see the result of much Photoshop (...) (22 years ago, 18-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Hover Limo with Police Escort

(...) Hah! You actually used sprues on this? That's hilarious. Anyways, I really like the use of chrome accents, especially around the bumper, with one exception. I think the pair of crossed swords is an interesting concept, but the aesthetics of it (...) (22 years ago, 18-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Flame and The Lance

(...) I'll be making two micro-scale ships from the parts of this one, you know. (...) It's all about the hangars. The hangar design for the Lance is meant to be economical, with well-protected bays to launch fighters effectively. (...) I (...) (22 years ago, 18-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Flame and The Lance

(...) Yeah, there's definitely a time and a place for stickers. That UCS X-Wing sticker sheet is great for microscale - but I would definitely pick and choose what parts I'm sticking them on. White parts worked well because the clear part of the (...) (22 years ago, 18-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Flame and The Lance

(...) You know, I agree, it's what I'm not quite happy with. And well spotted, a variant of the Sulaco front is what I was aiming for. (...) Actually, I was just running out of inverse slopes! But yeah, I thought it would look good to have some (...) (22 years ago, 18-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: MOC: Spy Prawn

(...) Allister, This is an excellent little design. I agree with Keith in that "You really captured the whole alien/aquatic aesthetic very well." I like the continuous nature of the vessel with the segmented body. At first I was not sure if it was (...) (22 years ago, 18-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Flame and The Lance

Re: The Flame and The Lance

(...) I can't believe how good these are..... Reminds me of a SciFi art book from my childhood called 'Mechanismo'. LEGO, get your act together and hire guys like Paul. Take care, Gary (22 years ago, 18-Jun-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: The Flame and The Lance

(...) The alternating slopes detail is one of my favourite ideas for the Lance, I'm glad you liked it. I thought I could have used a bit more angles and SNOT myself. My next one definitely will use them more. Cheers, (URL) Sci-Fi LEGO> (22 years ago, 18-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Flame and The Lance

(...) Funny, the main body of the Flame is what I'm least happy with. I guess it's a shape I've seen before and I wanted something more distinctive. I'll be keeping the front of the Flame for a new ship anyway. Cheers, (URL) Sci-Fi LEGO> (22 years ago, 18-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Flame and The Lance

(...) Well, only the Flame is limited edition, really. I think the Lance is a comfortable maximum size/weight for a microfig capital ship; lots of room for detail, and still somewhat swooshable. In my chosen micro scale (1/8 minifig) it's about 450 (...) (22 years ago, 18-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Flame and The Lance

(...) Funny you should say that - I worked with three detailing scales in mind: 1. Overall scale - the general form of the ship and shape of bulkheads. It worked well for the Lance, not so well for the Flame IMO. 2. Stud scale - the form given to (...) (22 years ago, 18-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: The Flame and The Lance

(...) The Lance, yes, the Flame, probably not. But I plan to build two similar capital ships from the components of the Flame. (...) Not on your continent!
