  REALbasic and serial ports

Hi all, I want to try REALbasic with the Lego RCX. I think that this could be another programming tool for the Macintosh to do everything nearly like Visual Basic and Windows. Therefore I need some program code to use the serial ports in my (...) (23 years ago, 24-Jun-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: New release of leJOS for Windows

(...) It is definitely compatible to the RCX 1.0 in RIS 1.5 and a tower on a serial interface. (...) Yes, and fix it if necessary. USB support is not yet there, as none of us yet has a RIS 2.0 set.   Re: new RoboLab 2.5 compatible with old serial IR tower & RCX 1.0

If you already have a serial IR tower, RCX 1.0, Scouts, and MicroScouts, then what extra benefits would you get from the new RoboLab 2.5 with: 1) new USB IR tower? 2) new RCX 2.0? 3) old Scout, eg, events and VLL output to MicroScout? 4) old (...)   new RoboLab 2.5 compatible with old serial IR tower & RCX 1.0

Pitsco told me that the new RoboLab 2.5 CDROM will still support the old serial port IR tower with RCX 1.0. Other than just the USB support does anyone know what benefits RoboLab 2.5 offers with the new USB IR tower and RCX 2.0? (23 years ago, 17-Sep-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.robolab)

Re: Using USB Tower with Alternative Firmware

Hi, AFAIK only the following changes need to be made to a COMM-driver to work with USB (Windows only): First of all the Lego-USB-Driver has to be installed (happens automatically when you install the MindStorms/RIS-software). 1) If you have a serial tower, there is no reason I can think of to purchase the USB tower. If you use a USB tower, then you will need the USB support that Robolab 2.5 provides. 2) The hardware differences between the 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 bricks are (...)   LegOS USB Support (for RCX 2.0)

I have added USB support to LegOS's firmdl, dll, and lnp under Windows. If anyone also has the USB IR tower (which LegOS's tools can't work with normally) instead of the RS232 tower, I can send out the modified source. - Hary (23 years ago, 26-Oct-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)
