legOS IR comm and debugging tools

Hello, as I begin to appearch dangerously the 32 variables limit of nqc on a current project, I have started to approach LegOS. After some apparently common problems, I managed to compile the h8300 programs and compile legOS 0.2.2. The demos work as (...) (25 years ago, 22-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

(...) Lorenzo, i also just started with legOS and just thought about exactly the same issue. I'm wondering, if anyone has tried to run gdb in remote mode on the RCX. Imho, this would be the perfect solution... I've never ported gdb-remote to a new (...) (25 years ago, 23-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

Sigh.... ... . How the $%^&* will we ever get smart, interested, technical professionals to really make a difference in the schools when they run into this. THis. This...! Sigh... Matt, I discovered that the IR LED's and detector on my serial tower was located higher than I expected and pointed upward somewhat. I was able to get better transfers when the tower was leaning forward (pointing downward so to speak). Otherwise, I (...) (22 years ago, 9-Dec-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Re: RF Connection To RCX

(...) Yep! I am going to make the RF/IR adapter plug in front of the RCX. And make my RF tower to replace the IR tower. I know the IR carries on 38.5KHz. Does it mean both transmt/receive signals working in the same 38.5KHz? If so, how can I solve (...) (25 years ago, 10-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

(...) Michael, I tried your programs on Windows and Linux. On Windows 98 the USB tower takes about one second to reply (990 - 1100ms). On Linux it took about 9 seconds as you indicate. This looks like a problem with the Linux USB driver. I will ask (...) (22 years ago, 5-Jan-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.java)

  pbFORTH needs better uploading, docs

So I've just been crawling over some broken glass, ERR, I mean, uploading pbFORTH text files to the RCX! It's hard to tell the difference! At the least, pbFORTH needs to: 1) accept \n, \r, \n\r or \r\n all as it does a single \r now. 2) have a mode (...) (25 years ago, 8-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)

no long range IR from laptop says Lego

Does the Lego USB IR tower, when set to long range, sometimes draw more than the 500mA allowed? Or do laptops generally not reliably supply 500mA? Or are we facing some deeper analog issue here, like not ramping up to 500mA from less mA fast enough (...) (22 years ago, 12-Feb-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

How about LegOS & IR "long range"?

Well. It's a bit strange that under LegOS you "must" work only in "near"/"short range" mode. So I've modified my kernel to work always in "far" or "long range" mode (that works with near too)... Now I'm able to upload kernel and .lx to my RCX placed (...) (25 years ago, 13-Feb-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)
