Mason, As fas as I know the usb support under linux it's not finished, some part (such as receiving works, but it's not transparent, as if you had the serial tower).   USB on winXP/2k problem: cannot download
 
Dear All, I have installed cygwin, compiled brickOS and tried to download the firmware and software. I cannot make firmdl3 or dll to work: "Error 2: Opening USB" The same error when the tower is attached and when it is not. I can download the (...) Would it be possible to have two RCX's communicate back and forth with a single PC by using two Infrared towers?   Problems with USB Tower
 
Hi there, I got a problem running my USB-Tower on Linux. I installed the LegoUSB-driver and it seems to work (i see it in /var/log/messages when i plug it in). I know most lego alternative SW seems to be Open Source, but please don't flame me for asking this question - ImageCraft is a company that provides low cost C compilers for 8/16 bit microcontrollers such as Atmel AVR, Moto HC11/12/16. When my `uname -a` reports: Linux Knoppix 2.4.19-xfs ... then the green LED light stays off til some software speaks IR. But in Win XP, the green LED light (...) Just yesterday I reinstalled my serial IR Tower on a Win 98 machine and had the green light stay on all the time. It turned out to be an issue of 'port confusion'. When I switched ports (put the tower on COM1 and the other device on COM2) the (...) (22 years ago, 22-Feb-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Uhhhh, gee, I just used some extra-long wires I got from Dacta to extend the console over to next to the couch, and plugged it in there ;-) But yeah, I want to get a couple of IR remotes too, for when I take an 8448 to work, and for my future train (...)
