Getting Serial IR Tower To Work With RoboLab

I am trying to interface a serial IR tower RoboLab 2.5.4 B. The serial tower is connected to com4 via a PCMCIA RS232 1 port card. I can select the com4 port in "select Com" within RoboLab. "Interrogate RCX" does not work. No green light on the (...) (18 years ago, 3-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.robolab)

Hi! i have a sub-notebook without any com-ports so i can't use my IR-Tower. But the built in IR is reachable over com5 (btw: i'm working with cygwin). so i changed dll to com5 (export...) but now i get the error(when dll'ing): Error 21: sending (...)   IR Tower Use

I know this may be a bit off topic, but didn't know where else to post, I own an IR tower and remote control, and was wondering if it is possible to use the IR tower for other things. eg using PC + tower to control stereo/TV, or using IR remote to (...)   IR-Tower and PowerBook-G3 ?

Has anyone else had problems using the IR-Tower with a PowerBook-G3 (WallStreet '98)? I tried for two days and only got 'Problem talking to IR device' messages.   Re: (Slightly Offtopic:) WinAmp remote control via IR Tower

(...) Mindstorms uses an ActiveX control called SPIRIT.OCX to communicate with the IR tower. As far as I know, it only opens the COM port when some application is actually using the .OCX, so the port should be available for use if you're not running (...)   IR transmission, strange coding ?

hi all, I'm working on what I call an "InfraRed All module" , which should become IR-tower, IR-sensor, IR-audio-remote, etc. Measuring the IR pulses from the IR-tower I encountered the following effects According to what Kekoa Proudfoot found "A '0' (...)   Re: About IR Tower

No matter if your tower is connected before booting, it's not a PnP device ! What's more, a serial port can safely be added/removed because it's just a text device. On Linux, you can easily test your IR tower : echo 'RCX please show me a sign' (...) (24 years ago, 23-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Dead IR Tower

Well, after months of flaky IR comms between my tower and the RCX, I can finally say that the tower has died. :-( I've forgotten who first suggested it, but using a videocamera to see if the IR led is still functional is brilliant! The tower must be connected before you boot the computer. Have you tried using the other COM port? If your mouse is using the other port, swap it and try the tower in that port. Remember to reboot. Can I change the parity setting of ther IR tower so that I can use 8 data bit, no parity, 1 stopbit instead of 8 databit, odd parity, 1 stopbit. I want to access the IR tower with a serial port that has only the settings 8N1. (21 years ago, 9-Mar-04, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
