  RCX.pm questions

So, I've finally found a little bit of time to play with RCX.pm, and it is pretty cool. However, I'm having lots of problems convincing the RCX to actually do things :) it appears that in many cases, the first signal sent to the RCX is always (...)   Re: Painful details on RCX.pm problems

Yes, it does in fact happen more or less often sometimes (though it is usually consistent.) It has been an awful long time since I changed batteries... I'll get a new set tomorrow and take a look at it. Thanks a bunch, John... Luis (...) (24 years ago, 9-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

(...) I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the same riff as you are, since mine has far fewer notes, but its worth a try... I don't know the "official" key, and I'm doing this without a piano in front of me, but any major chord should do the trick.... C (...)   Re: Batteries...

Yes, it's possible. You get less voltage with NiCads, so the motors don't turn as fast as they do with brand-new alkalines. Plus they don't last as long. However, they're so much cheaper to run! I used to use NiCads during development and general (...) (24 years ago, 15-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: Communication between NQC and VisualBasic

(...) Unfortunately, Spirit.ocx doesn't support sending messages. However, the packet protocol is pretty simple so as long as you can access the serial port directly you should be able to build message packets. See the following web pages for more (...)   RE: IR Problems

RCX IR does not require direct line of sight. All sorts of reflections will work. Especially if you're in a "smallish" (bedroom, home office) room. The RCX firmware always has the IR turned off. "Wait for mail" and "send mail" is just a higher (...) (18 years ago, 2-Apr-07, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  RE: IR Problems

IR communication is no where near the reliability like a tcp/ip. You can easily lose a message ... so program must be either extremely simple one way communication. The sender should be programmed to handle message loss. What I had the kids done was (...) (18 years ago, 2-Apr-07, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  RCXTCL.ZIP is repaired - finally!

Thanks for the flood of email indicating that RCXTCL is broken! My own stupidity kept reloading the cached version, and it was, of course, OK. Once I reloaded Windows on my machine, the problem was obvious. Anyways, the new RCXTCL.ZIP can be loaded (...) But only if you want to be the one to commit the changes. I say pass (...) (24 years ago, 17-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

(...) My legOS.srec file, which is compiled with all the default settings, is exactly 21000 bytes long. The calculated size is 8144. Which is sort of in the ballpark of half the file size (if we use a very big ballpark). The proper estimate is (...) (24 years ago, 20-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)
