The normal procedure in this case would be to do a fresh CVS checkout into
a new directory, make the changes there, and then do a checkin from there
too. But only if you want to be the one to commit the changes. I say pass
the buck. Make it somebody else's responsibility... :)
The firmdl thing isn't that big a deal to do right away I don't think. If
it was a big deal, I would think somebody would have complained to me about
the problem long ago, and I would have fixed it long ago, and all of this
would now be a non-issue.
