| | Micro Scout can run off its own motor

I just got the Droid Development kit. Try this: * Connect an axle to the motor of the Micro Scout. Disconnect and/or remove any other things that you have connected to the Micro Scout. * Take out the batteries (if any) * Start turning the motor (...) (25 years ago, 29-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Okay, here's another cool thing about the Droid Development Kit -- it includes a bunch of the new three-way bevel gears. I call them "three-way" bevel gears because they're like two bevel gears back-to-back with a normal gear in the middle. The (...) (25 years ago, 1-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) (actual URL is (URL) ) (...) Those calipers are pretty cool. It seems to me though you could get more precision, since the slop on the gears is a lot less than half a stud. The rotation sensor presents very little friction torque, so I imagine (...) (25 years ago, 1-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics)

i have found out that the futuron Monorail works much the same way. Connect a light to the monorail motor, and run the motor on the track. The lights will be lit! I assume it is because the motor functions as some sort of generator. (...) any (...) (...) (25 years ago, 5-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) That makes sense. With the two new sizes you end up with five different ratios that can be constructed with two gears at a 2-stud (16 millimeter) axle spacing: 8 <-> 24 1:3 ratio 12 <-> 20 1:1.4 ratio 16 <-> 16 1:1 ratio 20 <-> 12 1.4:1 ratio (...) (25 years ago, 7-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics)

If you connect two motors to each other (i used 'new' technic motors) and turn one of them manually, the other one will turn too. You can transfer rotational motion through an electric wire this way.
