Okay, here's another cool thing about the Droid Development Kit -- it includes
a bunch of the new three-way bevel gears. I call them "three-way" bevel gears
because they're like two bevel gears back-to-back with a normal gear in the
middle.

The thing that's cool about these gears isn't the three-way shape so much as
the fact that they come in two sizes that have not previously been available as
normal gears -- 12 teeth and 20 teeth.

There are some other new elements, of varying usefulness:

  - quadruple connector peg with perpendicular cross axle hole

  - 1 x [3x7] angle beam

  - 3 x 5 turntable with 4 rows of 3 half-connector-peg holes and a single
center connector peg hole

  - pieces 32199, 32200, 32235, different lengths of rubber cross axle with rod
system (round 3.5 millimeter) ends

  - the 1/4 R2D2 dome (of course)

(for those who care about color) a lot of different types of Technic elements
in white, and the tyre 2346 (30x10.5) in gray

The new gear sizes inspired me so much that I created a huge listing of all gear ratios that can be created with the gear sizes now available and put it up on my web site: (URL) case you're wondering, this is useful mainly for building clocks that (...) (25 years ago, 1-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) New gears... Excellent. Has anyone seen these gears in any other sets besides the Droid Kit? How about new technic service packs? Any listed in the newest Shop@home catalog? <ICS> -- Did you check the web site first?: (URL) (25 years ago, 6-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics)

I just got the Droid Development kit. Try this: * Connect an axle to the motor of the Micro Scout. Disconnect and/or remove any other things that you have connected to the Micro Scout. * Take out the batteries (if any) * Start turning the motor (...) (25 years ago, 29-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)
