I would love to see this happen. I think the technical issues have been
solved. Where I see a stumbling block that needs to be talked through is...
are the charters (of the list, and of the newsgroup) congruent, or close
enough?
We have seen a schism, of sorts, on the list among the following camps (not
necessarily equvalence classes, mind you, there is a lot of overlap among
camps):
* Mindstorms/LEGO purists (I'm in this camp, if you can't do it with
pure LEGO I don't want to do it, and I have no interest in STAMPs or doing
my own sensors) vs. robotics enthusiasts for which MS is one of many avenues
for exploring vs. the compromise of people who want to make different/more
sensors available to the brick
* people who build mechanisms vs. programmers vs. meta-programmers
(the disassemblers and coders of new languages, etc.)
* Sessile vs. motile
* competition bots vs. useful ones
Note that there is no implication of animosity between camps, just different
interests. Can one combined group/list cater to everyone? I think it can.
Others do not.
