  Re: Question about RIS 1.0

(...) Transformers do NOT convert AC to DC. They only convert AC to AC. The DC conversion is performed by four diodes in the RIS1.0. Maximum input is rated at 12V AC or DC (the diodes will take care of the polarity for DC inputs) although the (...) (24 years ago, 1-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Question about RIS 1.0

(...) The RIS 1.0 can be run from either 12VAC or 12VDC. In either case an internal bridge rectifier supplies the internal circuitry with the proper polarity. Internal power is supplied through an LM2936M 5V regulator (maximum input of 45V BTW) The (...) (24 years ago, 1-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Shutting off illumination LED on Light Sensor for LIDAR

(...) Actually you don't need LegOS, any input set to raw mode with the LEGO firmware will do fine. This is because even in passive mode there is a pull up of 10k to 5V, and in fact the LED is glowing dimly in this mode. Just tried it, I can get raw (...)   Re: Solar Cell Output (Shell logo)

This is may be a bit Off Topic With all the talk about the lego solar cell, (and cap) I went and got one of each. They are a nice curiosity, but as of right now, I can't seem to find any robot applications. Maybe when the sun comes back to Toronto, (...) (24 years ago, 1-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Curved Feet

Scott, I see this set frequently on eBay. There are six there now. Just search for "8880". I got two that way. It's a great set, though I feel that the suspension and joints to transmit driving power to the wheels are rather inflexible. Most of the (...) (24 years ago, 2-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: David Schilling

Looks like a form of the Killough platform on Leo Dorst's site. The rods appear to provide a 'shell' to keep the blue base from getting stuck in the v area. There are movies of the motion on Doug Carlson's site. I do not have any links handy, but (...) (24 years ago, 1-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) I built the Killough platform for the March SMART meeting mini-challenge. (SMART is the Seattle Mindstorms and Robotic Techies group.) The basic idea was to build a robot to wander around a table, without falling off, and stop beside a heavy (...) (24 years ago, 2-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Racing Line Follower

Hello I've built a line follower which is quite fast (approx 4 secs per lap on the testpad). It consists of two motors, each powering a 2/3 geared large wheel. Two light sensors are attached to the front pivot wheel. The distance between the sensors (...) (24 years ago, 2-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Shutting off illumination LED on Light Sensor for LIDAR

(...) Yes, this is the result I discovered this weekend. My conclusion is that setting the sensor to raw mode does not fully remove the light produced by the LED, and detrimentally impacts the sensor performance. I think my next approach is to try (...)   List software?

What software runs this mailing list? I ask because I'd like to find out what it would take to get it to put the ML address into messages as the Reply-To address. I run a couple of lists myself (using 7-line SED scripts) and it seems like this (...) (24 years ago, 2-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: List software?

(...) In my experience, one wants to reply to the list more often than just to the sender. Perhaps I'm wrong. In any case, anyone wishing to just reply to the sender would remove the list address from their outgoing message, and fill in the sender's (...) (24 years ago, 2-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)
