  Re: saving me pennies

Try to get the version 2.0 RCX so you will have the eternal power connector. Saves a lot on Batteries. Buy Dave Baums book, "Definitive Guide to Lego MindStorms". Also, Jonathan Knudsen's " The Unofficial Guide to Lego MindStorms Robots" is very (...) (24 years ago, 8-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  saving me pennies

I just got my first computer ,a laptop actually. now I am saving my pennies for the RIS set. I only knows how to do basic operations w/ computers, but I learning all I can. have been following your e-mails for awhile and understand this is no simple (...)   Re: New Robotics coming ??

(...) I've seen those. In the Dealer Catalog there were pics or robots with strange Scout (But smaller) boxes in their middle. Dean -- Coin-Op's For Sale!: (URL) Lego Workshop: (URL) Lego Club: (URL) (24 years ago, 8-Feb-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.nl, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: IR

(...) Actually the IR link may work even when the RCX is not facing the IR tower. If the range of both devices is set to `far', IR light reflections may be strong enough to be `seen' by IR receivers. That's true only for short distance however, say (...) (24 years ago, 8-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: IR

(...) Yes - providing there is a 'line of sight' between the IR 'tower' and the RCX's IR window. If the robot is facing away from the tower, it won't see messages sent by your PC...if it drives under a table or something... same problem. So, if (...) (24 years ago, 8-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  IR

Hi everybody, i´m new around here! I´m finishing my last university's year, and i´m interested on making a work with the RCX. I´m wondering if i can use the computer's memory and microprocessor behalf the RCX´s memory and microprocessor. (...) (24 years ago, 8-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: atl.dll?

Does anyone know where to get a non-Unicode version of ATL.DLL that works with ATLClient.exe under Windows 95? After installing the ATL.DLL downloaded February 6, 2001 from ((URL) located by Jonathan Knudsen April 11, 2000 ((URL) my next attempt to (...) (24 years ago, 7-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  New Robotics coming ??

Yesterday I received from a toystore a video with some advertisement material on to be presented on a monitor in the store. Lucky for me the store didn't have a monitor or video.   Re: OmniRemote and Mindstorms Update

From what I've been able to figure, you need to bypass the irDA queue on the Palm to send straight bits over the IR port. This is possible by going to the hardware itself. OmniRemote can do it, and so can we (if we figure out how!). It's been in my (...) (24 years ago, 7-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)

  RE: OmniRemote and Mindstorms Update

(...) I don't. I never got beyond using a Terminal Emulator (I forget which one) to send a text file from the Palm to the Tower over the serial port.   Re: OmniRemote and Mindstorms Update

Ralph, to what extent do you have QForth communicating to the RCX? I just started writing (again, I started this last year and didn't get around to it) a QForth program to communicate with the RCX. Do you have any QForth code that would get me (...) (24 years ago, 7-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)

  1.0 - 1.5 Upgrade

Hi all, what is included in this set? Thanks Peter Peternewmancl@hotmail.com (24 years ago, 7-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: OmniRemote and Mindstorms Update

(...) No, it's way simpler than that. The text files on the Palm are source code for Quartus Forth on the Palm. The idea is that the *same* source gets sent to the RCX via the IR link - you can do it now with a serial link, a terminal emulator, and (...)   Re: OmniRemote and Mindstorms Update

(...) So, this program will generate forth that the RCX can interpret, on the palm? That's pretty cool. Hopefully, everyone can agree on some database format in which RCX bytecode can be stored, so that it can be used by NQC, Quartus, or whatever (...) (24 years ago, 7-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: OmniRemote and Mindstorms Update

(...) I don't know if it can, or not. I can ask him, but since he doesn't use pbForth, either, I couldn't tell you if he'll have an answer or not.   Re: OmniRemote and Mindstorms Update

  RE: OmniRemote and Mindstorms Update

(...) Well, actually, the idea was to be able to write Forth source on the Palm and upload it using a terminal emulator from the Palm. If we can integrate the IR into Quartus Forth, then it would indeed be cool to upload firmwarwe and code from the (...) (24 years ago, 7-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)

  RE: OmniRemote and Mindstorms Update

This sounds very cool! I have the demo of an older O.R., but I don't use it that much. I don't watch a lot of TV. I would buy a copy if I thought it would play well with the bricks. One wonders if the library could be used with pbForth? If I (...) (24 years ago, 7-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)
