  R2D2 & RCX

Does anybody know where I could download PDF schemes of R2D2, built of Droid Set and RXC? Kris (25 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Power inlet to RCX 1.5?

(...) Since it works fine with 1.2V recharable batteries I guess a little less then 9V is also OK. Also it should handle a tad above 9V w/o problems. I got a very nice transformator with both an analouge voltage and ampere meter but I'll hook it up (...) (25 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Error in grabber arm instructions?

Steve, You have a complete list of the kit pieces on the last page of the constructopedia so you can check if there is something missing. I already had sets with missing pieces but they were already opened in the store. I don't believe Lego would (...) (25 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Help! I think I nuked my IR transmitter!

I've put my battery in the IR Tower the wrong way, and it didn't seem to hurt anything. I know it took me a great deal of fiddling in the Control Panel before I got the serial port working correctly on my computer. To be honest, I really don't (...) (25 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Motor Speed Code

Hi, I have a DC motor that provides quadrature encoding feedback. I'm using the 332 with the motor control TPU functions and I was just wondering if anyone has written any code or seen any code that will calculate the speed and direction of the (...)   Re: Help! I think I nuked my IR transmitter!

(...) When you reboot your computer, does the green light on the tower light up? If not, make sure you have your Serial ports turned on in Windows and the Bios. Dean -- Coin-Op's For Sale!: (URL) Lego Workshop: (URL) Lego Club: (URL) (25 years ago, 1-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Help! I think I nuked my IR transmitter!

Usually these circuits are protected against reversed polarity. Does the green light work after the battery was properly installed. Have you succeeded in installing the firmware? Try different settings on the tower switch. Short range and Long (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Motor Drivers

I use the L293D in my Lego Automation Controller. PWM works fine with this chip. (I built several variations of the controller before Mindstorms was available.) - pete. (...) -- Pete Sevcik sevcik@flash.net Techno-stuff Robotics (URL) for FUN ! (25 years ago, 31-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Help! I think I nuked my IR transmitter!

Hello All, I'm new to all this so please forgive me if I breach any format or protocal. I'm having some trouble with downloading my Mindstrorms 1.0 RCX. Every time I try a message says IR trans. not working. I tried all the suggestions it gave and (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Cunning idea

For anyone annoyed by the lack of motor outputs on the RCX who has some electronic engineering experience, a device can be built using a 4017B decade counter, some relays and a few other parts that will give a total of 1 original motor connection (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Message transmission speeds.

(...) That sounds believable. I send 6 one-byte messages in each comms cycle. That's gotta be a good 150ms - which is probably about what I'm seeing. How depressing. :-( (...) So, the first major speedup would be to send a 3-byte message containing (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Error in grabber arm instructions?

I just recently built the grabber arm with my new RIS 1.5 set, and I didnt have any problems with not having enough pieces. If i get time later ill see how many 6-length bars my set has, but I had plenty to build the grabber arm as far as i can (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: how long can i keep the rcx on

  Error in grabber arm instructions?

I've got an RIS 1.5 set, and I'm building the grabber arm from the instructions on the Lego website. The instructions call for a total of 10 beams of length 6 (is there a standard terminology for these things?), and my set only has 8. I'm (...) (25 years ago, 31-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Motor Drivers

Hi, Currently I'm using an L298 to drive a couple of DC motors. Unfortunately the only way I can intorduce any sort of speed control is to PWM the enable line since PWM'ing the inputs for speed control does not work. Does anyone else know of any (...) (25 years ago, 31-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Message transmission speeds.

In the RCX and the tower, the IR receiver is located close to the transmitter. When the transmitter is running, the adjacent receiver's Automatic Gain Control cirucit (AGC) becomes saturated, and sets the receiver sensitivity to it's lowest possible (...)
