(...) hey thanks dave hopefully i can run some tests as soon as my new rcx arrives. but i'll give it a shot. i'll be posting any progress so u'll know how it goes LeE (20 years ago, 27-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) I'll add it to my tool belt if it'll run on Linux ;) I certainly don't mean to slight the NXT software (I haven't even played with it yet). I assume it will be quite capable. (...) Indeed. Programming languages are simply tools. They should be (...) (20 years ago, 27-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: What I would do (2)

(...) Very good point! So one design goal/guiding principle would be try not to break brickOS programs for NXT and provide if nessecary a easy software upgrade path. (...)   Re: What I would do (2)

(...) I would be in favor of having a port of BrickOS for NXT (instead of having another thing to learn). I'm not gonna throw away my RCXs and I would prefer having similar languages for both bricks. Yes programmers would need to know the nuances (...) (20 years ago, 26-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: What I would do (2)

(...) Alexander, What you are describing seems more like an end application (multiple autonomous robots that do X and Y and can communicate using Bluetooth) then an RTOS design. An analogy of your description of using the NXT processor for just the (...) (20 years ago, 26-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Using NXT in a name - legal?

(...) Brian, LEGO posted a very nice message on Lugnet about this a couple years ago, after a news story came out, questioning TLG's approach to such things. (URL) short, the answer will be no. I'm sure they'll be quick to put NXT right next to RCX (...) (20 years ago, 26-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Robot new video

(...) Hi John, hi Philo :) John thanks for your post :) I didn' t take much time to program this robot (on video you can only see random moves)...but did you know which soft I use??....BricxCC....of course!!!! regards Chris from France (20 years ago, 26-Jan-06, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: remote control and rcx

Well, as a guy who continuously puts 9 volt conenctions on the sensor ports on the RCX (LDCC--love ya lots!!!), what you have to do is separate the wires connecting the RC port and the RCX sensor port with light bricks-- (URL) down until you (...)   remote control and rcx

here's a question to boggle some minds ok here's what i'm trying to do, i have the remote control module from the supersonic racer set and i'm trying to connect it to the input port of the rcx and then having it output to the motors. i dont know if (...)   Re: What I would do (2)

(...) If the mechnisms for control are still applicable, then yeah, you could port over the code that is used to activate the various sensors. In terms of uCOS, after reading half of the kernel book and actually working with it a little bit (the (...) (20 years ago, 26-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Why [no single language] is good for Mindstorms

(...) ...snip... (...) Steve, I totally agree with you. A few remarks: 1. There doesn't exist any non-buggy programming language. 2. There doesn't exist any best language. The reason that different languages exist is that there are different people (...) (20 years ago, 26-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Why [no single language] is good for Mindstorms

(...) Hey! I use Linux every day and I don't use X as a GUI. And I program 8 hours a day all within vi. I will admit that I may not be the typical mindstorms programmer.   Re: Question Burst

(...) Brian missed a method that worked for me. I put a 14 long lift arm on an RC Buggy motor and created a feed mechanism to put in one ball at a time. The resulting distance was about 25-30 feet. Ultimately, Steve threatened me with the addition (...) (20 years ago, 26-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Question Burst

(...) Well, there's a few methods that have been tried. The first was just to have two closely-spaced wheels spinning rapidly - when a ball falls between them, it's shot out. This seems to require heavy wheels and RC motors (gear motors have been (...) (20 years ago, 25-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Using NXT in a name - legal?

I was wondering if there is anyone from Lego or someone well versed in legalese that can tell me if it's ok to use 'NXT' in an open source project name? e.g. "leJOS NXT" (20 years ago, 25-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)
