Well, as a guy who continuously puts 9 volt conenctions on the sensor ports on
the RCX (LDCC--love ya lots!!!), what you have to do is separate the wires
connecting the RC port and the RCX sensor port with light bricks--

Scroll down until you see the light bricks. Set up the wires exactly as you see
there or you risk burning out your sensor port on the RCX.
This limits the power going to the sensor port.
I've never tried the RC unit, but seeing as how it uses 6 AA batteries--that's 9
volts, much like the track powered by DCC.
As for the values, I'd just put the sensor port on RAW and see what happens.
