Just about every time I read a message from "Chris" in this newsgroup, my browser asks if I want to send a reply indicating I received the message. I have some problems with this. Until you try the IR tower on another computer (that is not identical to yours), you have no way of knowing if the tower is the problem is in the USB device or in the USB chipset. At this point, I'd cut my losses (and time) short and spend $25 on a (...) (22 years ago, 25-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Yes, that was the problem Brian was having. And, because the LEGO motors are so efficent, they work really well as generators. Ruth, If the tower works on another computer, then at least one of the following will be true: 1) There is some sort of hardware conflict that is aggravated by accessing the IR tower 2) There is a software conflict 3) The computer has a combination (...)
