Ruth,
If the tower works on another computer, then at least one of the
following will be true:
1) There is some sort of hardware conflict that is aggravated
by accessing the IR tower
2) There is a software conflict
3) The computer has a combination of I/O chipsets that just
don't work properly 100% of the time together
4) Something could be wrong with the USB circuitry (if on a
motherboard, that means the MB could be bad)
If the tower doesn't work on another computer, then have LEGO send you a
new tower.
Based on the discussion so far, my bet is that the tower itself is bad.
Hope that helps,
Rob

Hello Alex,
I have done as you suggested. I have a game pad and seems to work
without problems.
I know my computer does not have any virus because it is scanned every
night by our server.
Any other ideas?
I guess I will have to unistall everything (including windows) and start
again.
Thnaks for your suggestions.
Ruth
