  Re: Mindstorms 3.0 Wish List

(...) The one thing I would say about this is that anyone who has ever tried to write replacement firmware, or who has programmed in BrickOS/LegOS has encountered situations where the RCX has become completely locked up due to a programming error.   Re: Spybot studies: photoelectric eye

(...) I'm nearly certain that you can't (currently) download programs to a Spybot via the USB tower. The MindScript compiler (LCC32) complains that it can't open the serial port (and unless LEGO releases an update to their vpbrick.dll COM object it (...)   Re: More Speed? Re: Mindstorms 3.0 Wish List

(...) Lejos is notoriously short on memory, with a half decent communication stack the RCX is full. In general I'd say with more memory and speed you can program more "high-level", and build more intelligent robots. As for a new RCX version I'd say (...) (...) I think this is fantastic, Brian. I look forward to seeing future posts on the results of your studies. I am working with Dave Baum to incorporate the new Spybot API features into the official NQC API. One aspect of that involves documentation (...)   Spybot studies: photoelectric eye

I've started a new project to explore the Spybot's capabilities, (now the John Hansen has given me access to them ;). I plan to undertake s series of "studies" which each explore a single feature or function. I'll post then as I go. This first one (...) (22 years ago, 6-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics.spybotics)

And the reason I don't want to waste time and effort making my memory map (excuse the pun) any harder to code than it has to be is because I am busy building special sensors and other gizmos to solve the short range navigation and (...)   9747 (RIS 1.5) comes with 2.0 RCX brick?!?

Hello, I opened a new 9747 (RIS 1.5) today and was slightly surprised to find a 2.0 RCX brick inside. Has anyone any clue how this can be? Kind regards, Wessel ...who wished they'd accidentaly put the USB tower in instead of the serial but alas. (22 years ago, 6-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Simplifying Cygwin & brickOS/leJOS

Dear Scott, Unfortunately it is still true that Interactive C does not support the USB-tower, but I am pretty sure this will be changed with the further releases (I recently bought a serial-tower at Shop.Lego for 16.99 Euro only!).   Re: RIS 2.0 USB Tower on a Mac

(...) As long as you are using OS X you'll be fine. NQC includes its own driver code for working with the USB tower under OS X. For Mac OS 9.x you'll need to install a driver from Lego. You'll also need to download firmware to the RCX. MacNQC can (...) (22 years ago, 6-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics)

  RCX questions

Anyone got a link to the datasheet(s) for the H8 in the RCX? For example, the pinout of the thing. And details like how large the address space is. Also, does anyone have a "Memory Map" for the current RCT (i.e. this address range is ram, this (...) (22 years ago, 6-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Yes. I'm running MacNQC on a G4 Powerbook with the USB tower - no complaints.
