Thanks. This helps clarify things about the motor features alot. I was looking into transistors for the first time. (...) no,this is wrong. The servo output is J2 - 9, not J2 - 15. (...) you need a 5 volt source to power the servo. Note that the spec sheet for the L293D states that the package can only dissipate 5 watts. With a voltage drop of 1.3 volts that is 3.85 amps total through all drivers. There's four switches on the control box, some wires going to the vehicle, and four motor/gearbox combos in the machine that the wires supply power to. No drivers, no heat (...) Do you have to choose a transistor that will switch somewhere near and below 9 volts? Cause Fred mentioned that the handyboard is rated for 9V motors. But, does this mean that the pulse generator make 9V square waves? (...) (29 years ago, 4-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
