Re: how long should bowsprints be?

(...) Your observations are accurate: bowsprits varied from ship to ship. If Lindsay can't give you a formula for a specific class of ship, I suspect one does not exist. Generally the angle of the bowsprit got shallower as time went on. Sloops (as (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.pirates)

Re: My First Pirate Game GMing

(...) Whether grape is "too effective" or not as currently written is the subject of much discussion in ESPG circles. I don't think there has been any firm conclusion drawn as of yet. (20 years ago, 1-Jun-04, to lugnet.pirates, lugnet.gaming, FTX)

  My First Pirate Game GMing

Yesterday I ran a small pirate game for a couple of my friends. It went pretty good. Each started with a class 2 ship. There were 3 large islands and half a dozen small islands. An imperial base and a neutral base. During the game, each captain (...) (20 years ago, 31-May-04, to lugnet.pirates, lugnet.gaming, FTX)

Re: how long should bowsprits be?

Hi Stephen (and everyone): First of all, base pedantry: bowsprits. No N anywhere in it. Second, the substance: Bowsprits varied in length historically, as indeed did the geometries of the bows to which they were attached. In part they were meant to (...)   Announcing the MOCC

My Own Castle Competition. We are hereby happy to announce the official castle-building competition for the Castle Room at BrickFest 2004.   Re: my T.G.B.S.L.I.L.A entry , and Delurking to boot

(...) Ahoy and welcome! (...) Doubly cool. (...) A nice vessel indeed, I'd call it a brig, with or without a gaff sail - but I think a gaff sail would be a nice addition. As others have noted, the door is a great. You've done a great job in (...) (20 years ago, 27-May-04, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.pirates, FTX)

Re: my T.G.B.S.L.I.L.A entry , and Delurking to boot

(...) Nicely done. Lots of great little details. I like the door to the captains quarters. Those sails look really good. As Wesley mentioned, seeing a merchant vessel is always a treat.   Re: my T.G.B.S.L.I.L.A entry , and Delurking to boot

It's a beautiful ship. I'm impressed. Not only is it an actual merchant ship (they tend to be too rare, since most ships are pirate or military), it's very, very pleasing to the eye. Details like the gold decoration on the sterncastle, the doors and (...) (20 years ago, 26-May-04, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.pirates, FTX)

my T.G.B.S.L.I.L.A entry , and Delurking to boot

Hi, I've been lurking for a very, very very long time (the pre Lugnet days of rtl&atl) although I have attended a (URL) meeting before (I brought the Formula 1 microscale model). This is the first of 2 models for T.G.B.S.L.I.L.A. The Freetrader (...) (20 years ago, 26-May-04, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.pirates, FTX)

  Re: Exploits of Empire Ships

(...) Well Mr. Dulin, almost all of them do exist at once. There are the main ships, but there are a few variants of some: Frigate: Super frigate, transport frigate Merchantman: Bomb ship, whaler, transport Ketch: Bomb ketch Chameleon ship: can (...) (20 years ago, 24-May-04, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Exploits of Empire Ships

(...) Welcome! (...) There's some unusual vessels in your fleet: it's good too see a variety of rigs on smaller vessels (ESPG 'cutter' size). And steam, too! (...) Looking forward to seeing - and hearing - more! Cheers Richie Dulin (20 years ago, 24-May-04, to lugnet.pirates)

Re: Exploits of Empire III Rules

(...) You post about them in .pirates, I see your post, steal (in true piratic style) your posted image, make it look spyglassy, upload it to my Brickshelf account, and to some FTX to the sidebar so the image links to your post. It's a fairly new (...) (20 years ago, 24-May-04, to lugnet.pirates, FTX)

  Exploits of Empire III Rules

Hello everyone. Here is the crude version of the EOE III website. It contains the rulebook and some advice in the form of a read me file. It also links to the pictures I mentioned in my last post. If you can play it, definately do so and let me know (...) (20 years ago, 23-May-04, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Narrow boat hull middle

I put them under the plate on two of my ships, and another, The Freedom has the plate very close to the bottom, and it (...) (20 years ago, 19-May-04, to lugnet.pirates, FTX)
