New MOC: Michigan Theater —David Kohrman
Time to announce my newest building. I recently finished the Michigan Theater, a fully furnished 1920's movie palace. My largest building yet features a neoclassical exterior and a japanise atmospheric interior. There is seating capacity for 86 (...)         Re: New MOC: Michigan Theater —Greg Perry
(...) I wanted to go ahead and send you a "WOW!" in response to your posting. This is a great building. Here are some of the things I really like about it: - The side exit stairs and the way they link to doors at different levels. - The columns on (...) (23 years ago, 7-Apr-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: New MOC: Michigan Theater —David Kohrman
(...) Thanks for the comments! I feel that the use of the 1x2 white grills for the pilasters really make the design work. Ever since I saw those pieces I thought they would make great fluted columns. Never could get enough for a building until now. (...) (23 years ago, 8-Apr-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: New MOC: Michigan Theater —Jonathan Lopes
(...) Hi David, This theater is fantastic. I really like like all the detail on the facade. Particularly the use of 1x4 tiles at the street level/entrance level of the facade, I use tiles in that manner as well. The columns are great & the blanked (...)          Re: New MOC: Michigan Theater —David Kohrman
(...) Your correct that the blanked in windows hide the exit stairwell. The staircase follows a similar path as the fire escape and exits were the front door is. I got the idea for the rustication when I got the Blacksmith Shop and its 1x4 studs on (...) (23 years ago, 8-Apr-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: New MOC: Michigan Theater —Matt Hein
(...) Whoa! I just took one look at this thing, and I found myself looking at every picture in the gallery! Just makes me wish I has purchased more 3033 tubs when I had the chance! Just my two brickz... <<_Matt Hein_>> Lugnet No. 1112 (23 years ago, 7-Apr-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: New MOC: Michigan Theater —David Kohrman
(...) Thanks for the comments! Since this chewed up most of my bulk yellow and bulk blue (interior shell) I likewise wish I had more 3033s. Maybe someday Lego will issue a similar product... Again thanks for the comments! David Kohrman (23 years ago, 8-Apr-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: New MOC: Michigan Theater —Chris Leach
(...) The theater rocks. It's even better in person.I love the half stud work. The details on the inside are just as good as the detailed outside.Chris (who is home sorting his 9 - 6921's(monorail acc. pack) he got in the mail yesterday((5 days from (...)          Re: New MOC: Michigan Theater —David Kohrman
(...) Yeah, it is better in person. Given the camera and lighting conditions I couldn't get any good clear pictures of the interior. Perhaps if we actually have a sunny day anytime soon I can take better ones. But this is Michigan... Glad you like (...) (23 years ago, 8-Apr-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: New MOC: Michigan Theater —William R. Ward
(...) the interior pics are difficult to view in some cases. Can you take some more, perhaps with better lighting? --Bill. (23 years ago, 8-Apr-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: New MOC: Michigan Theater —David Kohrman
(...) Thanks for the comments. I plan on adding better pictures once the weather improves. Its been raining for the past few days but I think it will be sunny tomorrow so I hope to have some up by then. Thanks! David Kohrman (23 years ago, 9-Apr-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: New MOC: Michigan Theater —Jason Spears
(...) <snip> (...) I really like the red stripes on the stairs inside. The Japanese feel to the inside is unique. I particularly like the roof-line just above the screen. The fire escape along the back is of course wonderful. That is one the things (...) (23 years ago, 9-Apr-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: New MOC: Michigan Theater —David Kohrman
(...) The inspiration for the interior came from the Redford Theater in Detroit... (URL) it was a good town use for those extra 6093s and 6088s I had lying around. I think this was the first time I've really done any sort of floor pattern. The (...) (23 years ago, 9-Apr-02, to lugnet.town)
