Well, in the very first iteration of the board proposal I actually did have
tiles in the bases of each square. But Steve had me take them out because he
didn't figure anybody would have that many tiles. I'm willing to defer to
everybody else's thoughts about putting the tiles back in, but at this point I'd
like to see us try it without for a little longer.
Have you tried slowing down your block deployment to see if maybe you can drop
it slower or something to keep them from bouncing? I'm not sure if that is
possible or not. I suggest that, but I'm not sure I could do it with mine
either. Mathematically, mine should be accurate to about 1/5 of a stud, but
realistically it is only good for about 3 or 4 times that because the motors
move things too fast. However if I were to re-gear them and slow it down, I
think I could get better accuracy. Maybe it is a trade off that people will
have to work with... slower robot or less accurate dropping.
OT-- my robot has gone through some significant modifications. A brief glance
and most people wouldn't even notice the changes, but they are significant.
There were very few parts that didn't see some sort of changes. I also re-wrote
the programming from scratch because the old program was too hard to follow and
I couldn't figure out where the bugs were. Hopefully this version will be
better.

| (...) It's a good point. For one thing, for anybody who wants to use a light sensor to "look" at the cells, the bottom would have to be a standard color. And on top of that, each board would require nine 1x1 ties of the chosen color. Tough. (...) (...) (19 years ago, 9-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

| (...) True, but... I guess my main concern is that as it stands, everybodies can work (I think) with an occassional nudge or human touch to "correct" a cube. And we said that would be OK, for at least the first trial. I don't see a reason to make (...) (19 years ago, 8-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)
