Well this is for all US LUGs so I am posting in lugnet.org.us although I don't

Anyway I had an Idea for a regional "LUGMAP" that would give a general idea of
the regions that each LUG covers.  I know that I have received many inquirys as
to whay region we cover and what other regions have groups.  This is especially
the case with visitors coming in from outside the US that are unfamiliar with
the regional breakdowns of the US.

So anyway here is a little map that I threw together.  I made a general guess
as to the regions covered by each LUG so this should be looked on more as an
idea than something that has been made public.

Now I doubt that NELUG is the best place to host this so I was thinking what we
need is a LEGO Users Group "Network" where general information can be stored.
Wait a minute we already have one of those!!!  It's called LUGNET, well blow me
down.  Anyway I would not presume that I think LUGNET should be the home for
such a map and I am perfectly happy to keep in on NELUG but if there were
concensis that this should be on LUGNET and Todd decided it was a good idea I
would be happy to maintain it here instead of on NELUG.

This would also translate well to the LTC groups as well and I would be happy
to make a map for them as well if people would like to see one.  The only
problem is it would probably be best to have a separate map for the LTCs just
because they overlap regions with some of the LUGs so to keep things clear I
would probably be best to keep them separate.

Anyway let me know if you think something would be a good idea.  If the
responses are positive enough I will set up a page on NELUG and start
maintaining this on a regular basis as needed.

Sounds like a good idea. Some additional thoughts:

- Some of the LUGs are also effectively LTCs, so they should appear on
both maps.

- It might be a good idea to put black dots which show where
concentrations of members are (for example, NCLUG is primarily a
Raleigh/Durham group right now, but if a bunch of Charlotte people got
active, they would be welcome as part of the group). Actually, this
might be more important than the regions covered.

(...) Definitly, NCLUG was definitly on the list for the LTC map as well as WAMALUG more than likely. I will probably try a few versions of the maps. One that combines the two groups as well as one for each type of group and let the voting public (...) (25 years ago, 8-May-00, to lugnet.org.us)
