I'm back too ... —Robin Sather
Hi guys, I've finally returned from purgatory ... er, I mean, Edmonton. I've just caught up on the forum. We've got a month left, and most of the work yet to do. I agree that we should meet ASAP. I can make myself available any night this week. (...) (24 years ago, 16-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: I'm back too ... —Dean Husby
(...) Everyone. We need firm commitments on who can attend to help with setup/teardown and building. I'd like to rough out the track layout so that we can set aside the areas for the different displays. IF we don't have most of this stuff done we (...)      (...) Okay! I am committed. After this one week of hell, I shall dive into my pile of bricks. (...) Yes, please. What needs to be built anyway? How about a list of buildings, vehicles, trains, etc. (...) Yes, if we're gonna make a display, it had (...) (24 years ago, 17-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: I'm back too ... —Kevin Wilson
(...) I will transport stuff on Sat, set up on Sat and Sun am, attend all day Sun, and teardown on Sun. (...) I just DL'ed Track Designer (get it here: (URL) and I'm going to rough out an initial design. If we all have the program we can toss ideas (...) (24 years ago, 17-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: I'm back too ... —Dean Husby
(...) Unfortunately I'm pretty hand dependent. So I'm iffy on help I can provide. Sigh. However, I can be at the show both Saterday and Sunday. I'll bring my Ice packs. (...) I've got it installed. It's pretty hard on the O' hands though so I'd (...) (24 years ago, 17-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: I'm back too ... —Robin Sather
(...) Dean, you're doing a tremendous amount right now to get this thing ready. Hopefully, on the show weekend, you can just sit back, rest your hands, answer questions, and shoot the breeze with attendees as the rest of us actually get our hands (...)           Re: I'm back too ... —Dean Husby
(...) Thanks for the support. (...) First we need to get the general layout set out. So we know what we have to work with. I'd suggest someone work out with static plates in Track Designer our layout. Then we can fit in our items. Then we can know (...) (24 years ago, 17-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: I'm back too ... —Kevin Wilson
(...) Once the track is on there's not all that much spare space... 16' x 6' sounds like a lot of space but it really isn't. (...) 48" x 30" x 28" high. How high are your tables? (...)         Track Designer layout available to DL —Kevin Wilson
(...) Well, I have done my best but we are very limited by the size of the table "blob" at each end of our 16'. Only just room to turn around in. I have uploaded the .tdl file to here: (URL) you can look at it. There's one place where the track will (...) (24 years ago, 17-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: Track Designer layout available to DL —Dean Husby
(...) I've updated the Layout with plates instead of the 9 volt track. Can you put blue plates down where the water is? Also, I think we need to rework the track. Short Circuit loops are tough. An in person meeting would be best. Also, I think more (...) (24 years ago, 17-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: Track Designer layout available to DL —Robin Sather
(...) Can you upload to the Xdrive site, with the proper file name (see my post on collaborative web space) (...) Just doing the simple math, you get 19 baseplates (19.2 actually) x 7 baseplates (7.2) for a 6' x 16' space. It's my feeling that we (...) (24 years ago, 17-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: Track Designer layout available to DL —Kevin Wilson
(...) I'm glad you and Robin worked out that the track showed the outside of the table area :-) It was late! (...) Sure, but we might as well keep re-working until we can get together. (...) I suspect the 16x6 is the *total* are we have, ie we have (...) (24 years ago, 17-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: Track Designer layout available to DL —Robin Sather
I've uploaded a suggested table arrangement layout to xdrive. Is assumes that we can snag 1 30"x70" (or 72") table with a heigh close to that of the others (35 5/8"). File is V-D0003R.tdl I've included the following text in the "Properties" of the (...) (24 years ago, 17-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: Track Designer layout available to DL —Kevin Wilson
(...) I just uploaded v-D0002K.tdl: same table arrangement as original, with green and blue (and yellow for beach!) baseplates in place, track layout modified to remove short-circuit loops and make yard and passenger sidings as long as possible.          Re: Track Designer layout available to DL —Kevin Wilson
(...) OK, now there's v-K003K.tdl on the table layout in my other message. Much more space for things around the track. Gonna stop now.          Re: Track Designer layout available to DL —Robin Sather
(...) Don't forget to increment the version number or this'll get *really* confusing. This file should be number "0004". With this layout, will there be enough room for the shipyard "works" (crane, deck, etc.) at or near the end of the sidings. (...) (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: Track Designer layout available to DL —Kevin Wilson
(...) It was actually the 002 file that I forgot to increment. I'll call the next file 005 and there'll be a gap in the numbers. I suspect this was a little too complicated for our tiny brains, Robin :-) Kevin ---...--- Personal Lego Web page: (URL) (...) (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: Track Designer layout available to DL —Robin Sather
(...) ;-) I just know how crazy collaborative work can get ... Gaps are fine. The key is to be able to look at the highest number for the latest revision.         Re: Track Designer layout available to DL —Kevin Wilson
(...) This looks better Robin. That one more table makes a big difference. I'm moving bits of cut-out paper around too... maybe we should just movetables for a while.         Re: Track Designer layout available to DL —Dean Husby
(...) That's pretty good Kevin, I think that's more like it. Now, if the tables are different heights, how's this for our elevation? We can have a 'low' end and a high end. But the Water has to be on the low end of course. We could make it look like (...) (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: Track Designer layout available to DL —Robin Sather
(...) This looks pretty good, keeping in mind that the "unknown" table is the one at the far left end. This could give us some height problems. Assuming this table is shorter than Dean's, the easiest thing to do would be to stick stuff (books?) (...) (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)
