  sorry I couldn't make it

Sorry I couldn't make it to the gathering. My transportation option fell through, and it would have been an expensive cab ride! I could take a bus, but by the time I figure out which ones to take, and get to the stops, etc it will be quite late. (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: The future...

greetings, Perhaps this will be easier and less intimidating: (URL) much, Xandria (24 years ago, 3-Jul-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  The future...

Vancouver Lego Club Memorandum from Dean and Xandria Husby to other VLC members and those wishing to be members (but have not, as yet, joined for whatever reason). The VLC has been holding Member Meetings since early this year. As we took the (...) (24 years ago, 29-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: June 16 meeting

Well I would agree that I had fun. To top it off, on Saturday I went to Victoria and visited the Victoria Lego crowd. Two days of Lego mania in a row! We built a couple of rocked powered Lego cars, which was a blast! see for yourself. (URL) I am (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Structure of VLC

(...) I agree. I'd say we reserve the first 30 minutes or so for our 'admin.' meetings and new business. To keep things simple I suggest we adopt the 'Robert's Rules of Order' for our meetings. I also suggest that we appoint/vote for positions of (...) (24 years ago, 18-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Dead Horse

(...) That wasn't my point. I was saying that a public event where everyone isn't playing with LEGO would be safer (from the standpoint that nobody's private property would be likely to go missing) would be safer than if the events as they currently (...)   Dead Horse

This is my last post regarding this subject because the horse is more than dead, and if the concept cannot be comprehended, my continued blatherings are certainly not going to clarify. (...) Who would like to organize such an event? (...) SAFER? (...) (24 years ago, 18-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Public Events

(...) That's definitely a good idea. (...) Well, it's still only for those people that have actually caught wind of what's gonna be talked about. I can understand why you enjoy the kind of get-togethers that the VLC has currently, and I would never (...) (24 years ago, 18-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Structure of VLC

After the discussions on Friday, I did some thinking... One thing that became obvious is that trying to have business discussions as part of a "zoo" member play event like Fridays is difficult. People (eg ME) just don't remember things that are (...) (24 years ago, 18-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Public Events

(...) Well, I went to Legoland Windsor last summer (pics are on my web page) but because we only had time to "do" miniland there just wouldn't be a presentation in it. If there were several people who had been to the different Legolands, that might (...) (24 years ago, 18-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Public Events

(...) Well, for getting someone to talk about their excursion to LEGOland, the first thing to do would be to to find somebody in our little group who's actually been there that is hopefully willing to spend some time talking about it. Anyone? (...) (24 years ago, 18-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Public Events

As I've been saying... These are all wonderful ideas -- the question becomes, who is willing to undertake the task? Ideas are never lacking... only support. Xandria PS: Personally, I enjoy the Member meetings very much and would prefer Member (...) (24 years ago, 18-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Public Events

So... let's talk about it. I think it wouldn't be a bad idea for a meeting to have one or two people speak who've been to LEGOland. I haven't gone there yet, and I think it'd it'd be a real hoot to hear about somebody's experiences there. Maybe a (...) (24 years ago, 18-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: Town layout at Friday meeting

(...) Yes, I'm an avid .trains reader. As soon as I get the page done I'll post it to trains and such. Thanks for the kind words. I'll endeavor to be quick about it. Dean -- Coin-Op's For Sale!: (URL) Lego Workshop: (URL) Lego Club: (URL) (24 years ago, 18-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: Town layout at Friday meeting

Dean Husby wrote in message <394BB912.29F9E5D3@a....bc.ca>... (...) Nice work. It looks like the complex slopes from the droid fighter are finding plenty of uses. I see you also did 4565 in yellow. I hope you'll post to .trains when you've got (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  June 16 meeting

greetings and salutations: I believe I can safely say we had another successful meeting. Kevin's creations always inspire maximum drool factor. by the way, thank you for the donation of those awesome posters to the VLC. Dave -- it is wonderful to (...)   Public Events

Mark, What you describe is exactly what we have been saying all along, and what I tried to also explain last night -- the concept of Public Events. Until such time as the majority of the members of the VLC deem it unnecessary, there will be two (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

No more flame mail! Please! :)

I may not be the sort of person who will always be the first to admit he was wrong, but hey, aren't people allowed to make mistakes? When I first saw the idea of a "secret" location in connection with an advertised club, the concept made me somewhat (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: Town layout at Friday meeting

(...) Aren't trains an integral part of any townscape ? (...) I had been wondering what use people would find for the droid fighter brown bits. They go well with the brown part-arches. A nice MOC ! (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Re: Town layout at Friday meeting

(...) As you all saw, I only showed off my new goodies I've created. I'll have some pics of the goodies up soon. There was my Old style Cable car & my 4565 train in BLUE. Some temporary pics can be found here: (URL) make a new page soon. The 'a' (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jun-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)
