So, my answer would be Sure, use a power adapter.  if everyone uses
one..... so be it.

Let's amend that to, use a power adapter only if you're staying on your own
table.  If you move across, you shouldn't use AC because there's a
possibilty your power cable becomes a fibre weapon.
