Re: [rtlToronto] rtlToronto15a/b Tentative Rules Posted

(...) I think there are 3 options: 1) IR 2) 1 sensor line for each robot (my [touch sensor/motor] connected to your port) 3) A single sensor line (both robot sensor ports connected together) This is the same as option 2, but when a robot signals End (...)   [rtlToronto] rtlToronto15a/b Tentative Rules Posted

Hi guys, I've put together an initial draft of the rtlToronto15a/b rules for the event on January 31, 2004: (URL) are two games: 1. Connect Four 2. Marble Sorting The latter is pretty much DaveK's deal. I've basically taken his previous post of (...) (21 years ago, 30-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: C$ <-- connext four

(...) You can definitely do it with BrickOS and lejos. I don't know about BrickOS, but the I believe the default stack in lejos is 10 deep. However you can rebuild it with a larger stack if nessisary. Derek (21 years ago, 30-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: C$ <-- connext four

(...) Your shift key is broken. (...) You can't do recursion with any languages using the standard LEGO firmware. The firmware's subroutine support is very limited. You may be able to do it with BrickOS or leJOS. (21 years ago, 30-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  C$ <-- connext four

OK. 2 things. A. I've slightly modified the name of the connect four suggestion from Steve FROm C4 to C$ the $ (pronounced string) character reminds me of the glory days of programing in commodore basic. and 2. how do you program recursive in lego (...)   Re: Web controlled robot back up and ready!

(...) That's what I thought. To keep things simple for the user, you can get rid of the outer set of buttons because those are really only appropriate when you have a joystick-type interface and the latency between the user and the robot isn't so (...) Figures, when I get to work the 'bot flakes out. I'll see what the issue is when I get home tonite. Dave K (21 years ago, 29-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: train5a - Hobby Show Layout

(...) Don't worry about it--It's a relatively small layout, so you might want to save the effort of bringing down such equipment. One of these days, we'll find a small board mount colour CCD and build it nice into a train with proper shielding. (...) (21 years ago, 29-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: train5a - Hobby Show Layout

Does anyone want me to bring my video transmitter to run on the layout? I can build a nicer car for it this time, and I have a few ideas to minimise interference from the motors. Calum, you were saying something at Train4 about maybe finding a (...) (21 years ago, 29-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Web controlled robot back up and ready!

(...) Hey Chris, THanks for the good review! If you want to see pics of the actual 'bot, I have some of the original that I had up a year ago-- (URL) scroll down and you'll see the 'bot as it was back then. The one in the arena right now is not (...) (21 years ago, 29-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Web controlled robot back up and ready!

(...) It's nice, but not in the budget--buying a house drains finances faster than anything I've experienced in the past, including my rusty pick-up! Dave K -money? I once had some... (21 years ago, 29-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: train5a - Hobby Show Layout

(...) Ain't it a nice building! I took pics of the 'old station' and forgot to take pics of the newer parking bays, but I also think it only has 2 bays. But my station looks better with 3. I don't like to waste black plates for a roof, though, so (...) (21 years ago, 29-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: train5a - Hobby Show Layout

(...) I walked by your fire hall on the weekend, and although I wasn't paying a great deal of attention, my impression was it only has two bays in the side building, and one in the base of the tower. But I could be wrong. Derek (21 years ago, 29-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Web controlled robot back up and ready!

(...) The camera position is a compromise between seeing the grabbing mechanism so you can stack blocks on top of one another, and seeing as much of the layout as you can. I do want to set up a secondary cam for an overview, but the software on 1 pc (...) (21 years ago, 29-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: train5a - Hobby Show Layout

(...) Yes, I figured that if we wanted some trains to run through this area, we could... The same goes for the back end (where the ? is) We can extend that if need be to put in a small yard.... (...)   Re: Web controlled robot back up and ready!

(...) The inner ones drive the one set of wheels forward whilst driving the other set of wheels backwards. THe outer buttons just drive the one set of wheels, whilst the other set of wheels remain stationary. I can change the programming. IIRC, (...)   Re: train5a - Hobby Show Layout

(...) THe firestation needs 4 studs on the module next to it. Or I just cut it down and lose a parking bay, which I was tentatively planning--3 bays down to 2 'cause I only have 2 complete sets of top rails for garage doors anyway, but then the (...)   Re: Web controlled robot back up and ready!

(...) This is one sweet WebBot! I haven't had this much fun stacking blocks since yesterday! Very nice job. I like the way the arm works, too, where it lifts a block only if the grippers actually grab a block. Could you post a few pictures of the (...)
