Re: rtlToronto14 AC issue and entrants

(...) This is interesting... I don't think Matthias would agree with you: (URL) project X robot relied entirely on timing, and he had a lot of problems at the competition. (...) I guess AC would be more consistent than batteries, but it still isn't (...) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: joystick help

Chris- So I have to use two touch sensors and two light sensors to operate four motors (I read in an earlier message that to control four motors, one has to use two RCX bricks). When using the light sensors, what should I do? (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: rtlToronto14 AC issue and entrants

(...) My vote: I don't care. However, I think that if they are allowed, there should be no chance that they could foul another bot (ie, they should only be allowed on a factory bot against the back wall). For the record, I am not planning on using (...) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) I guess that's us. (although we're not sure about Jeff VW) (...) yes. is it practical.....? that's a whole different question you might need to set up a reservoir of air.   joystick help

People- This joystick controller idea is for a mammoth crane (Demag AC 500-1 SSL, for more info check out the Terex-Demag website, look under literature, and click on the Demag AC 500-1). The reason I require four motors is so that each of the four (...) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: joystick help

(...) Luckily, this stipulation was not put into place until I already had two RCXs. :) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: joystick help

(...) These general questions (even follow-up questions) should be directed to everyone. Someone else may have a better answer. Remember, you're talking to a large group of people. (...) !?!? :) (...) Yes. And, someone could easily say "well, my cord won't tangle other robots." But... (...) ...If it does, they lose. (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: rtlToronto14 AC issue and entrants

(...) First AC is not allowed yet. Until the webpage changes, AC is still not legal. At some point, we're going to tally up how people stand on the issue so far: Iain - No Wayne - No Chris - Yes Bruce - Yes Jeremy - Yes Ka-On - Yes Trevyn? Rob? (...) (...) The same reasons why we say you can't drop 1200 pieces or be larger than 18" cubed. I care if it gives an unnecessary benefit that everyone else doesn't have. Like, we don't allow John Barnes sensors because not everyone has them and they're (...) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Ok, if AC is allowed, what is the ruling if a robot gets tangle in the opponents AC cord? Derek (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: joystick help

Steve- This is a bad habit of mine, not finishing my thoughts. My full question is, You've heard how I have connected the touch sensors to the input ports. Likewise, I did the same to connect four motors to the output ports. My problem is, I want it (...) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Well, boo hoo back at you. Your concern about batteries is not a valid reason to change an already existing rule. You can go out and buy rechargeable batteries or several dozen of those made on the backs of Chinese disposables just as easily. (...) (21 years ago, 26-Aug-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
