I so want one of these installed in my truck. (URL) that Gino in the IROC pulls up blasting his "tunes" I would crank this us. Chris old fuddy fuddy (19 years ago, 1-Dec-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Talking point : Re: Thoughts about the Target thief

(...) I can see my use of "Swanberg" as a verb. Wow, you really screwed up that robot Dave. Way to pull a swanberg. or My im missing a 2x4 red brick, janey did you swanberg it at the last show? or RTL 23 (autonomous shopping) - rule 3, your robot (...)   Re: Thoughts about the Target thief

(...) In fact, I have seen no evidence anywhere that Mr Swanberg ever played with LEGO at all, so even that similarity may be tenuous. ROSCO (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

Re: Thoughts about the Target thief

(...) This isn't my experience. Most people who know that I build with LEGO think it is cool. Most people I met at shows think it is cool. Only a few think I'm neddlessly obsessed, and they seem socially maladjusted anyway. -Lenyu (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

Re: Thoughts about the Target thief

(...) So that makes this kind of prejudice ok then does it? You can accept being associated with Swanberg's criminal behaviour if you want, but I for one will not. The car example, because it's something that nearly everyone does, is pertinent (...) (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

Re: Thoughts about the Target thief

(...) Okay, but everyone drives a car. Not many adults play with Lego, making the association much stronger. This makes it quite a bit worse. At some point your response stops working due to the lowest common denominator. Calum (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Thoughts about the Target thief

(...) The response is simple. If they drive a car, and chances are they do, simply point to the most recent article about a drunken speeding motorist killing someone and say "I hope you aren't doing this too." There's a word for judging a group (...) (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Announcing: NQJ or Brick-it-Forward - NEW TRADE!!!

SEVEN DAYS!! One very nice, very MISB 8417 Mag Wheel Master, has been awaiting its proper postage. It has taken seven days, and a few oh-so-close offers; but NQJ will move forward. That's right, you heard it here; If I did not see it with my own (...)   Re: Talking point: beacon light on or off while robot in motion

(...) Not saying it won't take more motors or that it won't be highly inefficient compared to direct motor control, just that it's doable. (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Talking point: beacon light on or off while robot in motion

(...) Erm, why would you need another output port for the light? I'm no robot builder, but I think I see how to do a light without using another output port. (even if you use a 2 motor or differential drive) I might be missing something of course. (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Talking point: beacon light on or off while robot in motion

(...) Far be it for me to disagree, but here's the thing... If it were me, I'd make the note that we're being a little too finicky on these rulesets. rtl competition rules were always framed to allow maximum freedom for what you wanted to build, (...)   Re: Talking Point: seelking light sensors WAS -- Re: [rtlToronto] rtlToronto20 Draft Rules Posted

(...) Actually I would consider this good news. I was getting concerned about how I would distinguish between lights and light sensors. I knew if people shrouded them it would significantly reduce the problem, but you can't count on people doing (...) (19 years ago, 29-Nov-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Talking point: beacon light on or off while robot in motion

(...) Im going to take a guess that people dont like to see "mom and dad" fighting (1) and are willing to accept whatever you and I decide on. Chris 1. you can be the mom (19 years ago, 29-Nov-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Talking point: beacon light on or off while robot in motion

(...) It's not you, it's the rest of these folks: Where's all the proponents of this game Chris so triumphantly paraded like contestants in a beauty pageant? DaveK? JohnG? Iain? Or are they all just happy to accept? I'd like to freeze the ruleset by (...) (19 years ago, 29-Nov-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Talking point: beacon light on or off while robot in motion

(...) Hey, I have a lot more to say, but I've been one, busy, and two, very sick. I don't think the discussion needs to be instantaneous, this is a message board, not a phone call. If you want to end discussion, then set a date for it, don't just (...) (19 years ago, 29-Nov-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Talking point: beacon light on or off while robot in motion

(...) Right, but why not demand a switched light as per the current rules, and then it's up to you to do whatever you want in addition? (...) The Square Brackets exist so people don't get confused with when the events are scheduled. There was a (...) (19 years ago, 29-Nov-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Talking point: beacon light on or off while robot in motion

(...) Excelent. I look forward to the web page update. Thank you. (...) This is a valid stratagy. I hope I didnt not leave you or any of the group or readers with the idea that the beacon light idea had to be an either or. In fact, a good builder (...)
