I was actually trying to go more with the design of the Highwind in FF7
after it transforms into a jet.

I wouldn't know...  I could never get anywhere in that game, 'cause I
disliked it so much...  :\

Disliked!?  What?  Granted, VII could never hold a torch to III or V,

Heck, it couldn't hold a torch to Final Fantasy *I*!  :)

but it was still more than worthy of the FF title.

but still, the worst of the lot, IMO.  (I've played 'em all, btw. (1))

Aye, as did I.  And I agree with yer rankings(1), except my scale says that
III is the best, and the rest follow suit accordingly.  III was the first FF I
ever played, and will always hold a special place in my videogame
collection...sniff...

Tell me, what exactly did you dislike about it, other than the horrible
looking and disproportionate 3D characters? (I'll give you that one)

The giant disproportionate swords wielded by Cloud and Sephiroth, the annoying
characters, the fact that it doesn't qualify as Final *Fantasy* due to its
extremely high technology content...  Finally, I thought the story was poor.
Luckily I was expecting story to be the focus due to the fact that the odd
numbered games focus on gameplay.  :)  Also, disproportionate characters are
not a problem for me.  I actually thought they were too *realistic*, as I • loved
the Super-deformed sprites from the earlier games.  ;)

Well, yeah, I chose the wrong words.  I've been known to do that from time to
time, right Mike? <grin>  I agree; sprites were the best!  I take a classic 2D
look over 3D anyday (well, in RPG's anyway).

Also, they ditched many of the classic recurring creatures/objects/etc. (this
actually started in VI), most of which I really liked (especially the
airships).

Ah, but good ol' Cid is always there, and those trusty Chocobos...damn birds...

Anyway, those are my opinions.  ;)

Jeff

And darn good ones, too.  Sounds like we need to be shut in a room together
with a stack of RPG's for a while...

1 - Rankings, best to worst:  FFIV, FFVIII, FFV, FFII, FFVI, FFIII, FFI, FFVII
1 - My rankings, btw:  III, IV, VIII, V, II, VI, I, VII
