Fees for your credit report vary from state to state. In some states,
you're allowed one free copy per year. But, if you were denied credit (in
the last 60 days) the credit reporting agency, who's report on which the the
denial was based, is obliged to give you your report for free.
Contact the credit reporting agencies directly. Don't use one of thos
fix-it services. The last time I got my reports, (admitedely, a couple of
years ago) it was free for me in Massachusetts but the normal fee was 8
bucks whether you asked for it by phone (which I did) or by mail. Now some
of the companies (the _real_ credit reporting agencies, not
crum-bum-I-want-to-steal-your-credit-card-number-people) offer you your
report over the internet.
