Re: Trademarks and misspellings... oh my! (WAS:Re: Where did the lego's go?)

DUDE! I totally agree with you on the whole phonetic-spelling-is-better thing. I know that English has the most horrific spelling of any language on the planet, but if people are writing in that language, then they should spell the words right. (...)   Re: Trademarks and misspellings.... oh my! (WAS:Re: Where did the lego's go?)

(...) DUDE! Do your lego research! 'LEGO' was originally derived by Ole Kirk Christianson as a contraction of the Danish phrase 'leg godt,' meaning, "play well." However, 'lego' is also latin for 'to put together.' <snip> (...) Actually, lego was (...) (22 years ago, 21-Mar-03, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Trademarks and misspellings.... oh my! (WAS:Re: Where did the lego's go?)

(...) Like 'LEGO'? ;) Is it misspelled or just invented? Either way, it's not a word that's likely to be recognized by many scholars as being spelled correctly. (...) Actually, there's a very serious reason why companies purposely misspell words (...) (22 years ago, 21-Mar-03, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Oh man, I don't think I've ever been able to turn off "I'll Melt w/You". It's just one of those high school tunes I could never get enough of and yet never owned.   Re: Music Question

Thank you to everyone who replied so far to this thread. I was unaware that placing quotes around a Google search query would turn up such significantly different results. That was beautiful! :) For those who seemed curious, I have quite a list of (...) (22 years ago, 18-Mar-03, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Music Question

(...) As others have mentioned, this isn't a new problem. Another source that works is if your local music store has good employees, they will often recognize the song. Frank (22 years ago, 17-Mar-03, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Music Question

(...) This old lady suggests doing an old fashioned google search. Doesn't even have to be exact although Evil Wayne is right that it helps. Hey Hendo! Actually, I have this problem all the freaking time. I hear a fragement of something and I have to find it. Try typing the lyrics into a search engine, like Google. I know this is completely off-topic for Lugnet, but then again, I am posting it in an off-topic group, so I'm hoping it's okay.
