(...) Yep, sort of like all those "Promotional Use Only" CDs and LPs floating around in used bins the world over that "legally" remain the property of the record companies and can't be resold. Doug (25 years ago, 17-Nov-99, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) If you're going to quote me, please have the decency to do so accurately. I said "I wouldn't say that anyone (or everyone) should have the right to be judge, jury, and executioner." The longer I think about it (and speak to some slightly more hardcore libertarians over on other places), the harder it gets for me to distinguish (hardcore) libertarianism from anarchism. The (...)   Re: Conflict in the Middle East

(...) I’ll admit to being a little irked by this. What has brought about “peace” in NI is the realisation that violence could only get the terrorists groups so far. The IRA (and its Loyalist counterparts) has just as little regard for “rights” (...) (23 years ago, 2-Apr-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) But that is the very nub of this problem. Until Israel, and its apologists, realise that, there can be no hope of peace. I have to side with Larry (and Mike, too I guess). I am sure companies use these limits (one per person/per household) to maximize the effectiveness of their special deal. I'm not trying to take sides in this at all, but don't forget that when you see something like this: "From: "Anne Schubert" chomper95 @ NOSPAM juno.com" at the top of a legnet post, it is being put in automatically by legnet's (...) Followups to off-topic.debate, because... suffice it to say, I do not agree, sir. :-) Stallman may be a bit flakey as a person, but I think the general theme that one can create "free" software and make a healthy living from it is extremely valid.
