When changing the newsgroup within a thread, its good practice to make the
post in both the old and the new newsgroup, with the FUT going (only) to the
new.
This crossposting, apparently, makes it much easier for those using
newsreaders to follow the thread. It lets the new group see from where
the thread has come (which wouldnt happen if you just set the FUT), and
It lets the old group see to where the thread has disappeared (which
wouldnt happen if you just posted to the new group).
Thus, your post should have been to both .market.b-s-t and .o-t.d, with the
follow up to .o-t.d.
Hope that helps.

This sounds way too complicated for a toy forum. I probably should just
refrain from posting in the future to avoid more headaches. That sounds much
easier.

Its not way too complicated, once you get the hang of it. I know I had
difficulties early on, but with patient guidance from community leaders, I got
to know the ropes. I would encourage you to persevere - it makes for a better
LUGNET experience for all, posters and lurkers alike.
And while it is a toy forum, this doesnt mean that participants should behave
like children.

(and note I am posting this to both .off-topic.debate and .admin.general to
preserve the flow of the discussion, whilst directing it to a more appropriate
group - its really not that difficult).
