Wow, this is a touchy subject. There's no easy answer.
I think JW has changed a lot from when he had all of the CAD group up in arms.
But back then, something needed to be done. Take my word for it. Was it done
correctly? Reading back over some of the posts from a far remove, one
certainly can get the sense that it may not have been the best way to handle
it, despite the efforts of a lot of people at the time to be sensitive. One
can also get the sense that if anything it was too drawn out, or didn't go far
enough, or caused too much bad feelings in others, or any number of possible
different reads.

I'm not sure I agree. The situations were vastly different. I don't want to
dredge it all back up again so I'll let it go at that.
I think JW gets a lot of props (and points in the moxie column) for
persevering and for wanting to contribute in a positive way, and for actually
doing so. Note that last part. I consider neat renderings to be positive and
inspirational contributions to the CAD community and I think that Shell
station really takes the cake.
And that's where I think we should leave it. I'm not sure even on that rainy
day that we should dig in. (but I have lastworditis so I had to say
something)...
