Re: Carryon vs. checked (Re: WTB: 6557 (really, really badly) and 6861 —Naji Norder
(...) I can't agree with this. Privatization does not work when profit should not be the ultimate goal. Consider Aramark. Aramark took over the dining services at UT last year. They have indeed done wonders to improve the profitability of the dining (...) (26 years ago, 9-Mar-99, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Carryon vs. checked (Re: WTB: 6557 (really, really badly) and 6861 —Mike Stanley
(...) <much info specific to the losers running the UT dining facilities snipped, all true> As a side note, the guys in my office refer to getting breakfast each morning at the cafeteria closest to us as "breakfast lotto". We're all fairly set on (...) (26 years ago, 10-Mar-99, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Carryon vs. checked (Re: WTB: 6557 (really, really badly) and 6861 —Larry Pieniazek
(...) I'm sorry. You weren't listening when I said that any so called "privatization failure" can be explained by analysing and demonstrating why it wasn't really privatization. You proved my point. You have given an example of a replacement of one (...) (26 years ago, 10-Mar-99, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Carryon vs. checked (Re: WTB: 6557 (really, really badly) and 6861 —Naji Norder
(...) You seem to be mixing privatization with monopolization. I agree that it is still a monopoly, and as thus it still has special problems and considerations that need to be dealt with but are usually ignored. However, this does definitely meet (...)          Re: Carryon vs. checked (Re: WTB: 6557 (really, really badly) and 6861 —Naji Norder
Before Larry tries to get me on a grammar point, I do notice my thus/such mistake in this post. I rearranged some stuff and left the wrong word in. Oops. All in fun :) (...) (26 years ago, 10-Mar-99, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Carryon vs. checked (Re: WTB: 6557 (really, really badly) and 6861 —Larry Pieniazek
Dictionary, Schmictionary. Words mean what I want them to mean. However, if you insist... What was privatized was a food service operation. The customer of that operation was UT. Not you. You're just the captive audience. If you have some budget (...) (26 years ago, 11-Mar-99, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Carryon vs. checked (Re: WTB: 6557 (really, really badly) and 6861 —Mike Stanley
(...) As much as this turns my stomach, it is true. Which is why students and staff can complain until the cows come home, but as long as UT is saving money that big orange screw is going to keep on turning. (26 years ago, 11-Mar-99, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Sorry if this is a double post. Sprintlink seems swamped today. (...) Well, as long as you are changing the definitions of words to suit your arguments, I can't counter you, so I guess you win. There are two kinds of logic that can't be countered - (...) (26 years ago, 11-Mar-99, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
