I don't feel the need to hide my opinions in e-mail, so I'll just move
this over to .debate.
How is this different from others selling or auctioning their items?
It just is. If I were to find a cache of Metroliners at a local store
for $100 each I could buy them up and sell them for whatever the
market would bear and that would be different from what you propose.
Why? Timing, I guess.
The star wars scalpers who snatch up armloads of action figures at
department stores, only to take them to flea markets and mark them up
500% are basically playing on the same "gotta have it NOW!" urge you
mention.
People don't have to have it now! I certainly wouldn't deny anyone
foolish enough to spend an extra $6.75 plus shipping to buy your
Landspeeder - heck, people have the right to be foolish. And people
WILL be foolish.
Doesn't mean you (or anyone else) has to take advantage of them.
Paying double plus shipping for something that will be in every
department store in town and also available from S@H in a matter of
days or weeks is stupid - period.
Taking advantage of someone else's stupidity and lack of patience is
predatory at best. Planning that out ahead of time by buying two and
saying you want to offset the price of the other may SEEM like the
same thing as me buying 10 copies of a set to break up and sell what I
don't need, but it only seems like it.
When I do what I do I provide a service no amount of waiting and
patience will replace. What you're proposing is to take advantage of
someone else's lack of patience and sense. Sorry if that sounds
harsh, but it's how I see it.

| I don't agree. To me there is a fine, but pretty distinct, line between "If you have to have this RIGHT NOW, I'll hook you up, but you're gonna pay. It will be easily available later. Maybe you should wait." and "Star Wars is rare, it's going to (...) (26 years ago, 18-Feb-99, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

| Sorry for posting in the wrong group. It was a mistake. I know better. It was late and I did not pay attention to what I was doing. I am also sorry if I offended anyone with the post. I preordered two complete Star Wars sets in January. I am keeping (...) (26 years ago, 18-Feb-99, to lugnet.market.shopping)
