Re: Democracy.... Dubya Style —Don Heyse
(...) Actually I think I see him seeing himself as a father figure. To me, he at least appears to believe he's doing the right thing. Whether he is or not, only time will tell. Most other political figures leave me with the impression that they know (...) (21 years ago, 18-Dec-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Democracy.... Dubya Style —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Some do, some don't. Old saying, not sure of the attribution or exact phrasing: "I like my politicians honest... that is, once they're bought, they STAY bought." ++Lar (noting that for someone who doesn't hang in Debate much, Don seems to be (...)          Re: Democracy.... Dubya Style —Don Heyse
(...) That's right. I mean, how do you work with the ones that change their colors based on the whims of some focus group. (...) Yeah what I really want to talk about (the way to handle new colors in LDRAW) has gone underground with the LSC. I'm (...) (21 years ago, 18-Dec-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Democracy.... Dubya Style —Scott Arthur
(...) So Bush talks about Freedom and Liberty whist funding gross human rights abuses in places like Uzbekistan & Israel and you think he is not "dishonest"? He hands out "lucrative" contracts to his buddies and you think he is not corrupt? Wake up, (...) (21 years ago, 18-Dec-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: Democracy.... Dubya Style —Don Heyse
(...) That's not what I said (or at least not what I thought I said). I thought I said he gives the appearance (to me) of someone who believes what he's doing is right. As for myself, I find the lucrative buddy contracts questionable, and I can't (...) (21 years ago, 18-Dec-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Democracy.... Dubya Style —Ross Crawford
(...) Well that's all fine and dandy if he says "Look I'm gonna do some short term wrongs here, but I'm convinced in the long term it'll be alright" but I don't hear him saying that. "It's right to hold these suspected terrorist/conspirators without (...) (21 years ago, 20-Dec-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Democracy.... Dubya Style —Larry Pieniazek
(...) When uttered by Scott, "Easy" and "prove me wrong" don't belong anywhere near each other. He happens to be mostly right (about the Bush II Admin and the great stink emanating from it) this time, but when he's wrong about something, proving it (...)         Re: Democracy.... Dubya Style —David Koudys
(...) Whereas I usually concur with you, Larry, it seems as of late that Scott had developed a debate style in which his points are backed up and cited, as is hte case with this particular arguement. If the counter arguement to this debate is 'ride (...) (21 years ago, 19-Dec-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: Democracy.... Dubya Style —John Neal
(...) I haven't forgotten, Lar! I was in "mock mode" with my comment with no intention whatsoever in engaging Scott on these topics. (...)            Re: Democracy.... Dubya Style —John Neal

Re: Democracy.... Dubya Style —David Koudys
(...) Cites validate an idea inasmuch as the idea has some substance supporting it. Whether or not the idea is valid is up to the contrary side to prove.          Re: Democracy.... Dubya Style —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Just tossing out cites does not in and of itself "prove the case"...          Re: Democracy.... Dubya Style —David Koudys
