For a while... but not for long. Do your research. Confiscatory taxes kill off
growth.

Not for long. Once the rich were mined out, what then?

Depends on what you mean.
Do I want to see otherwise virtuous people who had some reversals of fortune
suffer while people who made their money via pull/scam/stealing enjoy life?
Nope.
Charity for the first, and go after the second with the legal system, we have
laws against fraud already, and major structural change is needed to reduce
influence as a way to make money.
OR
Do I want to see people who have consistenly made bad choices in life and expect
handouts to evade the consequences suffer, while people who have worked hard and
honestly to provide things of value that lots of people want enjoy the fruits of
their labor as they see fit? (1)
YOU BET I DO. You should too.
If you don't, I suggest you have issues. (More issues than I already realised.)
I'd call you a wannabe thief if I was feeling grumpier. The thing most people
forget about the Robin Hood legend is that he was taking ill gotten gains from
criminals and giving them to the very people they were stolen from.
1 - I'm not much on caviar but I've in the past owned 3 sports cars at the same
time... gave that addiction up for LEGO though

I don't want to get mired in a discussion about what is 'income' v. 'capital' -- (...) (21 years ago, 1-Jun-03, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
