RE: Pax Americana (was Re: Where did you lot spring from?)

(...) Well, I've never tasted Hershey's, but I do know Cadbury's is miles ahead of Whitmans for taste. [The only good thing I can say for Whitmans is that the boxes would probably be good for storing small lego parts in.] Benjamin Whytcross (...)   Re: Pax Americana (was Re: Where did you lot spring from?)

(...) I have coyotes and roadrunners in mine. :-) What myth? Hershey's chocolate sucks. Cadbury's not the best, but it's a darn sight better than most of the junk they sell in America. Bruce (24 years ago, 4-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Pax Americana (was Re: Where did you lot spring from?)

(...) Kinda like the Lone Star franchise out here by the looks of it. Icky at the best of times. Do they have a stiffed Kangaroo head on the wall? A life sized Aborigine manikin in the corner with a Crocodile Dundee hat on? Framed, autographed (...) (24 years ago, 3-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

RE: Pax Americana (was Re: Where did you lot spring from?)

(...) Sounds like the 'Lonestar steakhouses' [or something similar] over here, although they are designed to represent america's outback area [I think] [Due to possible censoring, I won't give my opinion of this :) ] Unfortunately, at least in my (...)   Re: Why can't we have a Lando: Lego's Race policy

(...) did. (...) I too must offer a belated apology. (Busy, school, finales, etc.) I tend to be stubborn myself. I still am trying to figure out why people think I was trying to deny the hardships of various 'racial' groups. That was definatly not (...) (24 years ago, 3-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Pax Americana (was Re: Where did you lot spring from?)

(...) That's the root of my rant about Americanism--it's actually a hybrid culture that's gravitated towards the US because of economic power and demographic strength. The insidious part of Americanism is actually its functioning--its corporatist (...) (24 years ago, 3-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Canadian Tax!

(...) D'oh! Thanks for clearing that up for me - I'm a bit inept at this whole finance stuff - it consists of the tautology: "I like coding, people foolishly pay me to code, then I buy LEGO" :) You're probably right about the UK being worse overall (...)   Re: Canadian Tax!

Richard, you need to be sure you're comparing apples with apples. If you scroll down in that Fraser Institute tax calc page you'll find this: (...) So you are not just looking at income tax here, and to truly compare with the UK you'll need to add (...) (24 years ago, 3-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Time Warner Cable drops ABC local Channels

(...) Well, I *would* have been affected, if I had cable, but I don't have cable or a dish. I use a 6' antenna in my attic, on the rare occasion when I actually turn on the TV. OTOH, I'm on a first-name basis with the librarians at the local public (...) (24 years ago, 3-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Canadian Tax!

(...) The Fraser Institute is your classic right wing think-tank, so bear that in mind when using their site <g>. Are they including GST, prov sales tax, etc in that calc or just income tax? Sales tax here, depending where you are, is always less (...) (24 years ago, 3-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Canadian Tax!

(...) True, as a recent mobile graduate entering the computer software industry with long hair, and from looking at some of the 500 daily jobs in news://tor.jobs $50k CAD seems like a modest figure.. and it isn't too far off comparative wages in the (...)   Re: Why can't we have a Lando: Lego's Race policy

(...) What's the inherent skin tone of dogs? Yellow? I do know for a fact that we've got lots of different hair colors, so Lego would never argue that all animals have the same fur color, including human animals. Oh, yes, and brown-furred wookies. (...) (24 years ago, 3-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Canadian Tax!

(...) I didn't do much more than poke at the Fraser calculator, but it's cool. Thanks for the link. 50% seems awfully high. I supose it depends partly on what you consider "modest", and whether or not you've mouths to feed. Modest varies a lot (...) (24 years ago, 3-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Pax Americana (was Re: Where did you lot spring from?)

(...) Ahhhhh! Cultural imperialism. It's good to be king! Now forgive me while I drive home in my Mazda and play Nintendo games on my Panasonic TV and play Pokemon cards with my son. :-O Bruce (24 years ago, 3-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Why can't we have a Lando: Lego's Race policy

(...) I wasn't on my Laserdiscs either - but then I found the color control knob on my TV. Now everyone is a pleasant Lego yellow. Silly me! I've simply had it adjusted wrong all this time. ;-) Bruce (24 years ago, 3-May-00, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Canadian Tax!

I'm looking at working in Toronto, Ontario for a year - but according to: https://secure.lexi....r/etfd.htm Even if I got a modest computer-contract, I'd be paying close to 50% tax! Please tell me that this isn't true! I mean, I regard myself as (...) (24 years ago, 3-May-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Time Warnrer Cable drops ABC local Channels

In order for Time Warner to be able to carry the local ABC channels, Disney is insisting that Time Warner carry their new Cartoon and Soap opera channels and (...)   Re: Why is AIDS such a big deal?

(...) OK, my bad, but it's still a horrifying statistic. (...) No it's not, sadly, but that's why the medical funding needs to continue.
